FLY FISHING DRIFTLESS REGION | IOWA TROUT FISHING | IS WINTER FINALLY OVER?! (Wild Trout on the Fly)

Could it be? Is the harsh Northern Winter finally giving way to Spring? The trout sure think it is! After almost a month and half without getting out on the water WE SLAPPED EM! This is the first of a few sessions on one of my favorite Driftless streams in the region. Clear Creek is extremely technical and can be really difficult if you are not properly prepared. It is one of the three main spring creeks in the area and by far the most isolated. With a nice murky tint the stage was set for cabin fever cure like no other. The fish were not afraid of flies and ready to eat just about anything that crossed their face! Recency bias might be a thing.. But I might go out on a limb and say that this cheeky session could be one of my best days EVER on the Driftless. Quality and quantity were neck and neck. Keep an eye out for the next few videos because it only gets better from here!!

Interjecting commentary into the video was a nice touch. Hope you keep doing that. Took my young daughter out and caught a few this past weekend. Hardest part was trudging through the deep snow. In a few places, the stream got pretty deep and had a pretty muddy bottom, so I have to be cautious with her. Please consider talking about wading in one of your videos. How do you avoid the quicksand? Those muddy sandy bottoms can be brutal in many Driftless streams. Any tips? You ever get up to Minnesota?
