Such a great video. I remember being those kids and love fishing at Big Falls. Now I watch my boys with the same enthusiasm as they try their luck. Keep up the great videos.

Encouraging video, the "passing of the baton," so to speak. I love the drone footage of the river at the 6-minute mark too - breathtaking! And, I just love watching you two cast, using the slow-motion edit, you can really follow the cast from start to finish. Also, I'm always so impressed with Terry's ability to wade, cast, and fish, particularly in the volume of water he was in, and it's not the first time I've seen him do it, demonstrating complete confidence in himself. . .either that, or he's just plain crazy, lol. Kudos again to you both for a marvelous video.

Hi Creston, thanks for watching!! Terry is quite a confident angler after growing up on the river. I would need rocks in my boots to follow him. One important thing to note is that in this section of the river we use studs in our boots. The rocks are shale and often covered in slime so without the cleats you will slide too much to go out far in conditions like this video shows. We enjoyed filming this video with the kids, it’s a 2 part show and by the end of the second day on the water they really had the hang of it! It’s a great spot for kids, having a friend with them and 2 days off school really sealed the deal :) Our camera guy is Jake Dicks, he has some incredible skills. We’re blessed to have him. His drone footage is stunning in every episode, but I think my favourites might be coming up in episode 5 & 6. Stay tuned :)

Awesome video curious what fly lines you guys are using
@tightloopstightlines

We use weight forward floating fly lines. We’ve picked them based on how well they load the rod, head length, total length, how they handle fly presentation, ability to perform well on short casts, long, roll casts …and maybe colour haha. Jk. I believe these lines were Rio grand premier freshwater trout series, and Airflo bomber line. We did a line review covering an assortment of lines in the fall 2022 Fly Fusion Magazine ~ if you would like to read it just send us an email at TightLoopsTightLinesNL@gmail.com

on your tapered leader you make, what do you use?
@tightloopstightlines
@tightloopstightlines Жыл бұрын
We use maxima chameleon leader, it’s inexpensive and has a higher breaking strength than what is listed. Our leaders are 10-16 feet long made up of equal length sections, each being a step down from the piece above to allow for a smooth turnover of the fly. So for example a 12 foot leader, if we’re tapering down to 8 pound test, we’ll do 4 feet of 12 pound test, 4 feet 10 pound test and 4 feet 8 pound test. Each piece connected to the next with a blood knot. Thanks for watching!

Awesome show! What is the name of the net you guys use?
@tightloopstightlines
@tightloopstightlines Жыл бұрын
It’s just a random one with a rubber net from the hardware store! We like the black rubber net here in NL with the dark water, and look for something with a deep bag. The fish are more relaxed with this combo.
