Hi .I bumped into this guy on the train only a few days ago and had a chat with him. He had his rod and bits, we fishermen just have to ask don't we !! , Well, he certainly had a story to tell, and I'm sure any fisherman would love to know his latest catch, what a nice guy. It's not for me to tell, but Hector, you really should let it out! Nice guy, and a great fisherman, keep at it .

Sure I read in Anglers mail today about a guy fishing for barbel with fly tackle & squirmy worm & sure it was this guy who caught a salmon on this same river!

Fantastic. I only live 10 miles away from the Wandel. I really must pay it a visit.

Excellent video. I have a friend who fishes the Wandle and he's had Trout on bread! I'd love to fish the fly but having one arm makes this an impossibility- the nearest I could get would be to present a nymph on an ultralight lure setup... Tight lines Hector!

Barbels are very strong, like a freight train. Lovely fish. I catch them using french/spanish nymph method , especially exciting is sight fishing in shallow water

Great video Hector. Are you using a fly line or just free lining a monofilament line?

Hector , inspirational video, got a 10 + barbel sitting pretty just waiting for a fly. To nervous to attempt to catch, do I need to get it feed on pellets or hemp before fly is launched. ? Ps I think fly fishing is becoming an addiction. 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

Very cool, what part of the world might I find a Barbel? We don't have them in the western US.

They are spread across Europe. They are rather similar to red horse and suckers, which I suppose could be an equivalent target for you in the USA.

There is almost nothing about fly-fishing for barbel in england. it's full of huge barbel but they just fish them at the fedder. it seems taboo to talk about fly fishing barbel...At least nobody ever answered me when I ask a question on the subject...
