Fly Fishing a tiny Alaskan creek for HUGE rainbow trout!? These fish were INSANE!
In this video Glenn and I set out on an adventure into the wilderness with one goal; To finally catch and photograph this massive female rainbow trout that has eluded us for five days, even breaking off one of our flies the day before.
After hiking about a mile into the woods we made it happen, and it was more incredible than we could have imagined. To top it off, I was able to land her large male companion, test some new camera gear, and film a video that I am very proud of.

Bears are crtainly always a concern. Luckily we had protection and are always on alert!

Thank you, and very true man. No matter how much fun filming and fishing is, doing it every single day starts to feel more like a chore! Also, i tried making a shorter video to see if I can keep people's attention this time, we will see how it goes 🤨

Please, please never disclose any spot you come across. When secrets get out, overfishing happens and people just trash places including leaving trash everywhere.

These are definitely staged up trout getting ready to spawn. Leave them alone!

These fish were post-spawn, actually. this was late in the season. the reason they were "staged" is because that is the deepest hole there is in that creek before it lets back out into the lake, and they were staging to move back into the lake before winter froze the creek over.

Not quite... These trout are in an isolated, wild system that is not connected to any waters holding a salmon population. Killing these trout would be sensless and have no effect on any salmon, positive or negative. On top of this, wild rainbow trout in southcentral Alaska's rivers have been on a drastic decline due to overfishing in recent years, causing the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to put regulations in place preventing the harvest of too many of them. A person is only allowed 2 rainbow trout per day in wild lakes or flowing waters, only one of which may be over 20 inches. Furthermore, you are only allowed to harvest 2 20" fish annually from wild waters. This is the exact opposite of what the situation would be if ADF&G wanted these fish to be killed. They are a valuable natural resource that needs to be protected, and I believe that you need to do more research before making claims like this.
