When you say fishing spiders down stream how is that done?
@MrKingfisher35 ай бұрын
Spiders can be fished upstream like dry fly, across and down following with the rod oliver Edwards style but also wet fly style casting 45 degrees across and slow figure of eight retrieve rod high especially on seams the takes are very aggressive but high sticking allows the rod to take the shock rather than ping off trout, figure of eight retrieve keeps you in contact with the flies at all times.

What camera do you use for recording what editing app do you use? GREAT VIDEO BY THE WAY

Hi Brandon, I use three cameras, a Sony HDSR 12 as my main camera, a Sony RX 100 as my mobile camera and some gopro's for underwater and wet weather. The editing app is Sony Vegas.

Hi I saw a few of your salmon videos and was wondering for 2019 what would be the earliest time of the year to go spinning for salmon. I’m new to salmon fishing this is going to be my first year I have my license and all the gear and am eager to go out so when would be a good early time to start as I don’t want to be on the river on January 1st if nothing comes down the river until April you know what I mean but I want to be out ASAP the As I’m very excited to get started. Is January too early?

Hi William it all depends where you are going to fish, Salmon have been caught on the Laune as early as January 17 th and on the Drowes from early January so if you are not in you can't catch but I understand what you mean about the best times. Normally around early March on the Lee in Cork can be good, again the Laune and Munster Blackwater can be good early depending on water conditions. Take my advice go out a few times and iron out your mistakes and by the time you see reports on the Fisheries website of fish being caught then you will be ready.

Hi Neil. floating line with a 10ft 4/5wt fly rod that I made myself, 3ft furled leader and a 9ft tippet with two droppers of assorted spider patterns. The point fly has a small 2.5 bead just to keep the flies under the surface.

is that salmon a fish that has yet to go salt???
@MrKingfisher35 жыл бұрын
The salmon has come in to spawn from the sea and has been in the river a few months hence the dark colour but it has not yet formed the full spawning colours it was just waiting for fresh water to run the stream to spawn in December.
