I hope you’re using the carp model Tenkara rod. It has extra back bone to really rip those fish of redds when pegging beads . 8mm Carmel Roe . If they’re not eating , “lengthen your leader till you find a feeder”

I tried "tenkara" once when I was fishing a small stream I broke my flyrod so I snapped off a willow limb, peeled the leaves off and tied on some 4 pound fluorocarbon with a hares ear. It worked though not ef-fishently
