I'll be taking my first crack at the park this Saturday! Long time bass and lake guy and have been loving flyfishing this year. Brookies are at the top of my list and Saturday is supposed to be relatively warm so hopefully the fish cooperate. Thanks for great video

Good luck to you, Levi. If it is warm, those Brookies love to cooperate. Tight lines to you!

Hey Cory. Great video as always! How are you able to suspend a 16 bead head under a 12/14 non-foam fly? I was also supprised you were able to cast a dry on that leader setup. Is it the weight of the nymph that lets you do it? Thanks!
@OldDominionTroutBum Жыл бұрын
Thanks John. Appreciate it. CDC is extremely buoyant. Check out my videos for the Corn-Fed Caddis and my High-n-Dry Hare's Ear. These are what I use all of the time to fish Dry-Dropper. It is the weight of the nymph that you are casting...just like nymphing. You can do it with a Micro leader. Just slow everything down and wait until your leader has straightened out on the backcast. Hope this helps.

New subscriber - enjoyed your video. Nice to see some “local” talent and get some local tips. I usually fish SNP with a 7-½ or 8 foot rod. You looked to be using a euro nymphing rod - I’m guessing 10’? Who’d a thunk it. Would you use that rod higher up the SNP where it gets a little tighter? Thanks again for the video.
@OldDominionTroutBum3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate it Robert! I am using a 10’ 2wt. You could get away with it in that stream. I can think of a few others as well (I have on the Rapidan). In those tight areas it’s tough. That’s when I go to a shorter rod. I have a 7’11” rod I love for that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Are you using a mono rig or straight up nymphing line ? Thanks, Tony
@OldDominionTroutBum3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Tony! I have a euro fly line. My leader off the euro line is 13 ft of 18mm Sempe mono to a 4 ft 5x hanak bi-color sighter to a tippet ring.

What was the water temp thinking about going this weekend
@OldDominionTroutBum3 жыл бұрын
It was around 38 early then got to about 42. That was back in mid Jan. The water temps should be a lot better now with the warmer temps. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Wow, I'm surprised at the number of browns! I presume you know you're not supposed to put them back into Park waters, what's your thoughts on that? Nice brookie too! Should have gone for the slam!
@OldDominionTroutBum3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! It's a creek that borders the park, so technically it's not inside. But honestly if it was, there is no way I am killing a beautiful trout. Personally I think it is insane that the State as such a law. There is no reason why a couple of those streams can't harbor some wild Browns. I could go on and on about this subject, but I find it cruel and wasteful. and btw, no rainbows that I have seen in there....yet!
@soundbwoikilla7643 жыл бұрын
@@OldDominionTroutBum Good answer :) I thought that might be the case. I've caught browns as well just below the Park but none (yet) in the Park. On the slam, I meant going down to some stocked water and pulling a rainbow.
