I started tying wet flies not to long ago tho they seem and are simple to tie they really test your knowledge and abilities thread control being the most important it’s a definite change of pace from more modern tying I always enjoy watching you tie these classic flies cheers

Hi Davie, Thanks for another great fly, definitely will be tying up this pattern. Davie something occurred to me from one of your videos..a Q&A on feathers would be welcome....when you see a wing woodcock eg what do you see ?..should a beginner bye cape or saddle...what is pardo...are there rules on plucking feathers correctly..beginner intermediate stuff. Im sure theres folk out there with plenty of feathers only questions.

How do you get the squirrel dubbing to go on the thread so easily? or easy looking. it is by far the hardest for me to get to stick to the thread and I usually result to getting my fingers quite wet to get it on the thread, that is with waspi thread dubbing wax (the really gooy stuff) Typically I just use ChapStick when dubbing. But squirrel is really hard for me.

Wax the length of thread you are using to dub the body and grab below the wax. Twist the thread into the dubbing before twisting the noodle by hand for the least amount of finger goop.

Hi Half Insane Outdoor Guy, One of the main things that makes it easy to dub it to make sure the dubbing is well mixed as this will help especially fine dubbing like this and extra fine like mole fur which is very short in length so it needs the wax to hold it..The wax I like is Veniards Prepared Fly Tyers Wax, I have attached a link to a video I made on how I prepare it for using for you to have a look at.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3-Xf2xofJZnjsk All the very best Davie

Are those boxes durable for being plastic? I fall a lot on the rocks while fishing.
