This has got to be the most underrated fly reel clips on YT! Usually when the topic of fly reel drag comes up, we get very generic answers and footage around the topic of sealing. It was fascinating to see how a mid range reel deals with sealing compared to the high end stuff. Thank you for sharing, and well explained. Growing up and living in SA, I fish Shilton reels (SL series for Salt and their CR in the Fresh). The CR in particular is probably the most popular high-end freshwater reel here for Trout CR2, and the CR3/4 for our indigenous Yellowfish. At this point it feels like sealed drags are just a marketing/sales gimmick. Apart from a few of the very top end reels, water eventually finds its way in. Just about all of us fish Shilton SLs here with the occasional Tibor or Abel corks, being at the tip of Africa even a failure in “civilization” potentially means shipping a reel back to the US and Months of waiting. The corks are soo simple to service and look after, the Shilton SLs and newer SR series truly are weapons that never fail. I hope this clip gets more views with time, thanks again Anthony from South Africa 🇿🇦
