Nice video Rich! I guess that's fishing for you...sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't. It's all a matter of being at the right place at the right time. :) Thanks for keeping it real!

In Norway you have Striped Bass? Are they the same as European Sea Bass? It is my dream to fly fish Norway one day.

you might try the opst single hand Skagit fly line, you could easily cast a bigger sand eel pattern.

Yes there definitely is larger sized streamers. if ur gonna continue to fish with the fly rod u should look into picking up a cheap fly vise n just experiment with making ur own..Ull save urself a bunch of money as well..the material is super cheap to make those.. not sure if u have a fly shop in ur area if not maybe an orvis..they got pretty much everything u need. the flies also.I'm sure u new that already. give it a try.. I typically only fish with a fly for trout. if I had larger size hooks I'd make u some.. largest size I use is #4

Hey man, love your videos! I fly fish a lot in fresh water but never salt water. I'm running a 5 weight set up. What weight gear do you have? I'm heading to the ocean soon here in New Jersey and I was wondering what you recommend for ocean gear

Don't pull line off your reel during the fight. No reason to do that. At best, you'll induce slack. Trust your drag. Get your tip right down on the water during the retrieve. So far, you are doing way good !!

Marine vet here. Love watching your videos. I just started fishing stripers in RI this year and would love to get out with you sometime if you are open to it.

What rig or fishing method gives you the most keepers/slot/legal size stripers and excludes the most shakers, juveniles and undersized fish? I'm guessing its old fashioned live bait

I can pick you up one of those sand eel looking flies that is bigger. Someone at my local tackle shop hand ties those exact style. I have one in chartreuse. If you want I can mail it to you.

I fish the Puget Sound here in Washington and it hurts my soul to see you call all these stripers tiny when a good cutthroat over here is around 14 inches, I gotta make my way over there!

Hey Man, Love the videos. Wanted to say that your cast might be a little longer if you "Pop to a stop" as you're finishing your cast. Clearly you're doing well, but you might have longer casts if you didn't follow through with your rod and instead stop it a little sooner.

How do you deal with that fucking CONSTANT wind?!
@HealyOutdoors34744646 жыл бұрын
What I do is I cast down wind and when I'm ready to plant it I cast it backwards into the wind.

bro switch to a spey rod you will get 3 times the distance and with less energy plus you can change you depth by change the head if you us a skagit line

cool vid thanks for sharing. some tips: work on the double haul/less wrist action; wear a hat, sun cancer is no joke and it will help you spot fish better; no need to take those fish out of the water to unhook em, just lip em in the water and pop out the hook
