The Taupō Trout Diaries- Series 2 Episode 6
A series of videos of trout caught in the Taupō District, New Zealand.
June, and the fish are moving up the river now. Though, its still a little slow (for me anyway)
Kings Birthday weekend, checked out a couple of rivers. Sunday I meet up with Chris and his dogs, and we had a great time walking up the TT , fishing, and slaying trout( well Chris was anyway)

Things I should of done to help me hook up with more fish:
I had 10 pound line on ( from fishing The Ngonga), could of dropped down to 7 pound and a thinner line.
Changed my slushie to Nymphs as this was working for Chris
Taken the trusty indicator rod set up, rather new to Euro
put more leader on incase my "sighter line" was spooking the fish
dressed my for the weather, got cold and my brain slowed down - Used to the ngonga where you arnt in the water all the time.
It was a hard day out today. But got one landed to save the day ;)
Catch and release , lovely well conditioned trout , released to fight another day .
I love coming down to Taupō
I was using a yellow slushie most of the time today . Primal brand , weight 3 Euro fly rod is what I was using today.

Hi I have followed a couple of Taupo Based guys for a few years now and they only focus on the basics indicator and sinking line fishing.I have asked them to show eruo fishing to no avail.There is one other but he is unwatchable.Thankyou for trying something new to you and sharing it. We are all learning every time on the river thankyou again Steve.

Hi, I agree with your comments. Have watched Johan on the TT and he got stuck in amongst all the fallen trees and had some success. I would not call it the “Start of the winter madness” yet as there is no snow on the mountain tops. The big fish are yet to run. Good to see you down here for the plonkers birthday, yep its cold as his handshake (had a lot of time for the Old Boss, don’t trust the new one, you can’t trust a Knight of the realm who breaks his solemn oath, even if he is the Colonel of my Regiment (personal opinion)!. I hope to see the fishing improve next month, so see you on the river! Cheers mate. Harera
