I wasn’t voting for one I just wanted to see you catch a fish

I think landing a fish on a fly feels more rewarding, put tossing a spinner is more versatile but then again, fishing with a stick and a string is a better technique than sitting on the couch.
@pelewads4 жыл бұрын
You should check out their video on using flies with a spinning rod.
@TigerJake20074 жыл бұрын
I use a 7' ultra light spinning rod which gives it almost that fly rod feel when landing fish. Plus it allows me to throw streamers as well. Fly fishing is great, but it feels like it has almost become and elite cult where I live. Lots of the fly guys look down on the spin fisherman. I handle fish with care, pinch barbs down, etc. Just strange. I'll keep my spinning rod and keep catching more fish. Great video. His stuff is always entertaining.
@thecatchtherelease89824 жыл бұрын
Lure fishing is no way near as versatile then fly mate, show me a size 22 midge lure you can cast on a spin rod when a midge hatch is on, and try and catch that fish that’s selecting feeding with a lure and not to mention you can’t a metal silver spoon and catch trout where the Action and all the hard work is done for you literally the only skill is casting placement where fly fishing every box has to be ticked so it makes it so much more rewarding. Especially here in Australia where we average brown trout around the 5-8lb mark.
@tj10964 жыл бұрын
CommentBoxParticipant2980 honestly that’s just wrong tho, you can seriously put a fly in almost any place, even the places you cant cast spinning gear.so maybe you don’t know what your talking about but your information is wrong, also look at a roll cast, it allows you to cast with trees right behind you. And even if there are people that close to you it isn’t close enough to make a difference in anything unless they are being stupid and scaring the fish, I do prefer to fly fish not around people but if you are it’s not like it will make a difference in your casting.

OK, just learning to fish. Watching Jordan's knot come loose at the 2:45 mark made my day. Says heaps about my character, huh? But it's so good to watch the pros screw up and just laugh and tie a new leader in about 10 seconds. It's THIS type of stuff I really appreciate about Addicted--watching real fishing, how to handle things. Love this channel. Just love it.

all methods have their time and place. I've been fly fishing and spin fishing since I was a small kid. Tying flies and making lures for almost as long. There is no "superior" way to fish. The more versatile an angler you can be, the better you can adapt to whatever variables mother nature brings. Some times it is just more pleasant and enjoyable to fly fish, some times the same for spin fishing. Anyone who is an elitist to any one method of fishing is a fool.
@blakeblevins21293 жыл бұрын
Definitely fly fishing for trout is superior since their diet is mainly bugs most they're life

@Austin Ivey Same!! I use flies on my spinner rod, almost the same way i use power bait with no weight. Just toss it slightly up stream, let it drift passed some good looking structure or shadows, and wait for that line to go tight!

Great challenge! I have fished both over the years. I think if you had used a soft plastic jig on the spinner rod it would have been a more even challenge. I tend to lean to the spinner rods here in Georgia because in many of the places I fish casting a fly rod is almost impossible.

Here in Montana it is like the archery vrs gun argument. If you want the fun and sport of it use a bow, if you want to eat elk every year use a rifle. Same with the fly rod, more sporting but I limit out with the right spin gear most days while the fly guys are busy tying and casting...

I used flyrod only from the bank in moving water where I can easily reach the fish. Spinning gear for boat drifting or bank fishing in the wind to get longer casts. Both are mega fun but fish hooked on a fly rod give a more in depth and meaningful conversation between the fish and me.

In streams and rivers - fly fishing 3 to 1. In lakes and ponds - spin fishing 2 to 1.
@trautist04572 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. For both rivers and stillwaters a good spin fisherman can outfish fly fishermen. A skilled spin fisherman knows his stuff and armed with the same flies (nymphs, midges, emerges) and jigs can really cover and fish a river well. Ditto for stillwaters. The newer braids are gamechangers for the spin fisherman.
