Yes! Love all of the catch and cook series from various survival and fishing KZbin pages, but it’s the tutorials that I wish there were more of! Definitely subscribing after seeing this one; I love the energy you have and willingness to explain things in a way that makes it easy for beginners to understand that doesn’t make it feel as confusing; understanding the fish mentality as well as the functions of the various lures is so huge and I appreciate you explaining them in more detail !

Spinner fishing for trout is 🔥. Could not agree more that the three first casts are the most important and to always be prepared for a fish to strike. Recently was out on the river fishing, there was this one section, a deep boily turbid eddy, with not a whole lot of fishable water. So before I went and fished the more likely water downstream, I casted my spinner (a 1/8 oz. rainbow rooster tail) up into the eddy and let the current work it into this deep seam in the eddy. First cast, bam, fish on! A nice big 14 1/2 inch rainbow. Anyway, it just reminded me to always fish every single little spot, because moments like the one I experienced are what we all fish for.

My wife and I are going to get off the boat for the first time and do some river fishing here this summer. I haven't river fished since I was a boy so here I am. I used a lot of spinners and spoons back then ,but for trout old fashioned worms usually worked the best. Unfortunately many places have since outlawed live bait. Good video.

The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

Big trout swim up stream so i walk down stream as far as i can and fish up stream , if you think about it these big browns are predators and will sit in the calmer water in a pool , lets say behind a big boulder because swimming up stream is a constant and the calm water behind a boulder or log or whatever interrupts the current enough to sit and ambush smaller bait fish , so cast up stream and reel just enough to set you spinner in motion and let the current carry your spinner into deep hidden spots where big browns sit in calmer water to ambush smaller bait fish....i fish the Tomahawk fishing reserve on the south platte in Colorado off hiway 9 between Hartsel and Breckenrigde and its a catch and release , but ive done pretty well doing this , my last trip i landed 3 browns over 20in and one huge ugly salmon it was huge big ugly hook jaw ...anyway i plan on taking a go pro next time

That last spinning lure that you used was a Mepps Comet. It absolutely slays in central NY trout streams. Especially the 0 and 1 sizes. The size 2 spinners and up are more for bass and walleye. The panther martin, mepps comet, roster tail, and kastmaster spoon are the mainstays in a trout catching arsenal. Try refishing those pools with the comet on. If they aren’t committing to the bite; down size the lure…

Stellar episode Jordan. My best luck is on panther martins, in rivers and lakes, have “yet” to catch anything on a rooster tail. Have you ever tried a larger blade on smaller bodies? Due to my stupidity in ordering online parts I ended up making a few spinners with that combination and they work! Waiting to see Jordan come out with his own spinner’s - with Knigge’ esk names and colours.

Dude Great content. Good tips on flies off a spinning rod and float from a previous video. I have been hooking em in the bubbles. Now i just gotta figure out how to get em out the current and in the net. This video with the spinners near the rocks , great for the upper Deschutes river Bend Oregon. Fighters .... fighters fighters. I'm new to actual fishing beyond hook and worm. Late last night and early tomorrow morning ..... Must be addicted. Great content ... I hope you have a video on fighting the trout out of the rocks and current to the shore as they are going upstream and holding by rocks.
@jeffwerth27072 жыл бұрын
bright flashy spinners and sunny days don't go well unless its windy to put a chop on the water. Black spinners may work in that case - Panther Martin especially since it has a tighter spin vs. a Blue Fox. That is where roostertails rule - they come in bright and subdued colors. Always fun to chuck and wind - the fish do get used to them were bites in the mouth turn to hooked outside the mouth due to them slapping at it. Those turn to follows in close where they think they want it but something is "off". Then gone. Where as Jordan mentioned, switching colors or spinner types helps - give them something different. Tie on a decent snap swivel - give a lure 10 to 20 casts and switch

Most spinners have a time and place where they work best. Discussing only the big brands. Panter Martins, work well in bigger faster water. Blue Fox, also work well in bigger faster waters but is louder. Mepps Agilia works well in shallower water and at slower more precise retrieves. Joe Flies with their colorado spoon is best when very slow retrieves are required. Roostertails are good when you need a fast retrieve, but forgotten any Panther martins or blue foxes.
I use the same ozark trail box for my trout spinners theyre surprisingly pretty nice for the money

If you have roostertails and panther martins you can fish most any water between the 2. The best part about roostertails is the color selections. Sometimes it has as much to do with the color than anything in my experience. One of my favorite colors during the summertime is the bumblebee with a gold blade for Brook Trout and Brown Trout. I feel the rainbows generally like either black or white spinners with silver blades the most. I do feel the blade color plays more of a part with the likelyhood of catching certain species.

@RandyWelsh-p7z6 ай бұрын
I've enjoyed your videos and this one shows some growth over the one 4 years ago deciding whether the Rooster tail or the Panther Martin was your favorite. There is no favorite.....they do different things in the water column and you choose the most suitable for the conditions at hand to present first. The Panther Martin IMO has the most loft and would be my first choice in skinny, slow water. The Rooster tail would be my first choice in faster, deeper water that would pull the panther Martin right to the top and for real deep, fast water I will go to a Krockodile spoon first. Not to be critical or tell you how to fish but the exercise begins with "reading the water" then choosing your presentation. You have the audience not me but how about approaching a pool "from below" so they aren't all watching what you're doing, explaining to your audience what you hope to accomplish, choosing the lure you think will do that and why? With so many other variables involved (water temp., sun position, water color, lure color, forage/hatch, educated fish, etc.) let's get the brand recognition out of it hmmm? That 10 lure lineup might in fact be a good selection in the steelhead streams you usually fish but if you were fishing an unknown trout stream a Krockodile, PM, RT, Mepps and a Super Duper would serve a fisherman looking to improve his skill better.
