Fly Fishing Washingtons Most Iconic River: Chasing Steelhead and Sea Run Cutthroat Trout

Booked a trip to Washington to visit one of my best friends. Hoping to catch our first Steelhead on a Fly Rod, we went to one of the best Steelhead fisheries Washington has to offer. We also tried for some Coastal Cutthroat in the Pudget Sound

Being a Washingtonian (born and raised), I love seeing people from other places come here and explore this state. Great seeing you appreciating how amazing this area is, being able to go from fishing the Puget sound to small mountain creeks and large rivers in a relatively short distance is one of the things that is amazing out here. Love your transitions with the drone overheads. Washington classifys steelhead as a rainbow trout over 20 inches. They are actually the same species of fish and can interbreed. One is adronimous. Nice work!

Steelhead are anadromous rainbow trout. They go out to sea and come back to the stream they were hatched in, to spawn. Salmon are a different fish altogether. Those trout you caught are cut throat.

By "ocean" you should add that this is Puget Sound not the open ocean. It's pretty different than the actual open ocean
