FLY FISHING WATERLOO CREEK | DRIFTLESS REGION TROUT | DRY FLY FISHING (Allamakee County, Iowa)

Peanut Butter & Jelly, Apple Slices, and some goldfish (cheddar of course) would have been perfect… But unfortunately I FORGOT TO PACK A LUNCH!!! If you are making your way to Waterloo Creek you best come correct! I certainly did not! All jokes aside, Waterloo is one of the three amazing spring creeks that run along the Driftless Region Scenic Byway in Iowa. I would say that Waterloo is significantly bigger than her two sisters, French & Clear Creek. It is a wide, deep, fast flowing spring creek with fields upon fields of flowing watercress. THIS IS A BUG FACTORY! Which means there is potential for some monster fish.. And trust me I spooked plenty of monsters, so I can confirm they are there. Just not on the end of my line! I only got to see a small section of this creek but I cannot wait to go back! There is so much public access for fishermen so there is a lot of water to see! I absolutely love challenging streams like this one. It always leaves me with so much to think about after the adventure is over. The last thing I will note is… That dry fly bite was so sick.. That is all.. Tight lines y’all.

Great day overall Mike. Always enjoy the driftless. Interesting the change in the spring browns to summer bows. But hey, a fish is a fish. Loved the top water eats on the little may flies. Always a blast. Keep em coming buddy!

Nice video! i drove thru this area from a work trip in Eau Claire and I fell in love with the scenery. Was thinking about bringing by family up here for a get-away. I think my wife would love the scenery and my boys and i love to fish. Problem is I like the challenge fo trout fishing but my boys are young teens and more comfortable with spinning tackle and smallmouth fishing. are there streams in NE iowa with smallmouth you could recommend? thanks!

Another good video. Nice to see these solid rainbows!! You talk of being versatile, have you tried wet flies when the dry dropper doesn’t produce? Seems to be my go to style when trout nite slows down. Would like to watch that type of video please Keep producing good videos

Hey, great video and love how you redeemed yourself on that bow on the dry! Curious about your adjustable hopper setup. Do you put an additional hook eye off the back of the hopper somehow? Would love to be able to reproduce that rig.

Waterloo have only fished very very late fall....we are talking November tiny tiny psedocleon.....size 22 worked ........love your casting that big pool 7 minutes on ...just across the border north they put in large rainbows 13 and 14 inchers....late August.....Hopefully you do some late fall videos! Driftless....

Those were some good looking Bo's! Sometimes those hatchery fish clean up nice after eating some local bugs and small bait fish. Hopefully, they are also reproducing and becoming wild.

Oh....psedocleon are a small ...very small...... blue winged olive mayfly....no hackles are deadly .....pattern.....
