My company recently acquired an 1880s building located in downtown Anderson, SC. The basement, which mostly consists of dirt floors, became an exciting site for our Dig That Beep crew to explore with our metal detectors. During our exploration, we unearthed a variety of fascinating items, including some rare old coins buried in the basement! We're thrilled to share our discoveries with you in this video and encourage you to subscribe to our channel for more updates!

Great video, guys, and some nice finds. When I first got a metal detector, I went to my parents' house to detect their yard. After thats I remember the floor in the basement was half dirt. I thought I would try it and found a small jar that had 3 mecr. and 4 buffalo, 7 Indians head pennies, and 10 wheaties still keep them all in the same jar on my shelf. Again, guys, great, job. Keep on digging that beep.

How cool that was. I dug a Barber dime and a Mercury head dime in the same hole. But to have a jar with all of the Coins on your shelf.... PRICELESS 😂

Cool video. We got to hunt a late 1880s basement once. We found a 1853 Seated quarter, three ringer and a 1860s seated dime. When we got home we looked that site up on historical maps and before the building was built, that location was a wagon yard. That's probably why we found what we did.

Screw-on lids were introduced in the mid 1800's, so never assume they aren't old. Some of the the first screw-on lids were for Mason jars. 😊

There is still likely a huge number of in building caches yet to be found. Now if you’re talking caches in old farm fields, backyards, woods, and river banks the number is in my opinion unimaginable! Great video.

@@legacyXplore I'm researching which gold camps had large plagues or other high death tolls ( I know a bit morbid ) but no one trusted anyone back then so when they went to work they either had it all with them or it was hidden for the ones that didn't make it....well that's still going to be there .....im thinking the best chance for actually finding treasure
@legacyXplore
@legacyXplore 3 күн бұрын
@@raymondkenney4997 that is a really good idea. Really interesting. I have 5 criteria that I use to grade a potential cache lead. And I didn’t just guess I put time in. I looked at over 500 instances where a cache was document to be found. I started to see some major overlapping elements. Why the cache is still there is of course a big one. And sudden death is overwhelmingly the reason why something goes unrecovered. Second being mental illness. Two others are if I Google the details and it pops up online in any form it doesn’t qualify for this type of A+ cache lead. Completely lost to history is really a sign you’re on to something. That and finally what year the story is originating from. Pre metal detectors is key. Good luck! Keep us posted.

I had some incredible luck in basements. Found a Seated 1/2 dollar, Trime Love token, silvers, ihp's, wheats, tokens, and so much more. What I usually do is sift the dirt with a sifter and use a smaller coil on my detector.

That was a very cool video! Maybe take a sifter with you next time. That large oil lamp part was probably that size to help shed extra light in that building back before the "Electric City" got it's name. That big glass part Mike found with the odd part inside may have been an old fire extinguisher filled with water that would durst when it got too hot. That is only a guess on my part, but I know they used things like that back in the 1800s into the 1900s. Fun Video!

💥💥💥💥Basement? I prefer to hunt in and around basements, although I have to admit, I've never hunted a basement that still had a building on top of it. I can't help but think how funny it would have been if Mike called you over for a signal, you shine your light, and he’s on that toy excavator. Also, this was a perfect opportunity for a metal-detecting-scare-prank that surely would have gone viral. Could have made a short of it and got a million page views. Nice finds! Great work!

Phillip has to stop screwing around, and show y’all the finds. 😎 I remember watching a video probably two years ago, where they detected I think an old Plantation home. At the end someone was going to go under the house. As soon as he entered his flashlight went out. He went to the truck to change out the batteries. Tested it and it was good, went back through the opening again, and light went out again and wouldn’t come back on. He took that as an omen and closed the little door.
