@@hankboog462 Dragon Dance is an immediate threat. There were still tons of Baxcaliburs using DDance instead of Scale Shot + Swords Dance in the early days of Teal Mask. The immediate potency of an attack boost and speed boost in one turn is surprisingly more useful than everything SS + SD has going for it in quite a few circumstances. Especially in Bax's case where there are so few Pokemon that die to +2 but live +1 that it's genuinely worth using over Swords Dance. See also: Crawdaunt.

The saddest part, is that garchomp was already starting to fall off before teal mask, the nail in the coffin was gliscor, which basically outclassed a majority of the bulk grounds and took chomps hazard stacking ability away as gliscor got both spikes and toxic spikes, and had a way better defensive type compared to chomp. This also bumped down notable ou staples like gargancal, clodsire and even heatran. Heatran was also used less due to the dominance of both manaphy and wellspring mask ogerpon in ou, both also basically screwing with a lot of Pokémon in ou.

The sad part is that Chomp (as well as Heatran, another one of the most iconic OU Pokemon of all time) just barely missed the 4.52% cutoff. Heatran I think has really fallen off, but Chomp is still decent enough in OU thanks to Scale Shot. But when a bunch of living breathing cheat codes get dropped into the game, honest Pokemon like Garchomp (yes Garchomp is an honest Pokemon nowadays) struggle to stand out. Maybe once Bloodmoon Ursaluna and Ogerpon-Wellspring and Kingambit and Manaphy are banned, we'll see Chomp rise up
