Here we go again - more dirty dishes :D Just as boring as the first one!!
I realised that the audio in these videos is affected negatively by my room EQ in my master chain. Apologies for the less than ideal frequency balance.

I can't believe you call this boring man. For those of us who not only enjoy your music but, also, enjoy the process of creating music, it's amazing to watch videos like this. Watching you work is a pleasure, also makes me feel better about my process. I'm not the only one who will spend forever on one part of a song.

blake you should stream this on twitch under the creative section. that way you have a proper chat and can have bots and stuff moderate it for you. then you can just upload the stream to youtube via the twitch site

YESSS! I hope these live composition videos become a regular thing. For me they are by far the most inspiring videos to watch on youtube, especially coming from you considering you're by far my favourite composer out of all the guys doing this kind of stuff. :)

I'm considering it! I might try it sometime. I'm worried that I'll end up rambling on mic and I don't think I'd be anywhere near as productive hahah! Keen to try though.

I've had no formal training in composition, but have learned various instruments since childhood and performed in orchestras for a large part of my life. In saying that though, I've done a lot of self-directed study in orchestration/composition/mixing. Thank you!! :D

Thanks so much for posting this, I'm really enjoying these videos! I'm very curious what the blake midi is around the 57 minute mark. I'm guessing it's a "realistic" quantize? Looking forward to part 3!!!

Blakus, thanks again for this second video! Brilliant work. I really like your workflow: retroperspective recording turned on to keep the flow. would you mind sharing a secret of yours: I like your ambience sound a lot. Do you include it on the master channel as well or is it always a separate routing? Thanks, Raphael.
@Blakus
@Blakus 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I wouldn't call my ambience a secret, it's pretty straight forward. Just a standard hall reverb set up as a "send". Nothing on the master channel here.

Hi Blake, haha showing off your hight adjustable monitors aren't you? Awesome cello melody in this one! I was wondering one thing. With a template like this, do you use VE Pro to manage the cpu load? I'm about to switch from Logic to Cubase (better core handling is one reason) and I'm wondering if I'd need VE Pro also. Thnx!
@Blakus
@Blakus 7 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, I love being able to tweak the height to match my chair height hahaha. I used to use VE Pro, but since machines are getting quite powerful these days, I find it unnecessary. My load times are 2mins max, and everything works flawlessly :D
@stanerbrink
@stanerbrink 7 жыл бұрын
Nice, I was hoping for that answer. Guess I'll just have to take the plunge into Cubase then. *clicks on confirm order
@stanerbrink

Hi Blake, I hope you don't mind another boring toy question ;-) In the meanwhile I bought and installed Cubase Pro 9 and setting up my templates. As far as I can see in your videos, you're using one Kontakt instance for each instrument track. Is that right? So you don't use multitimbral outputs?

Oh man, I need the full version already too! hahaha! It's a fiddly process; but, to have a full sketch planned out, and to get through this much orchestration/arranging in 3 hours is actually not bad! :D

Only just found you on KZbin and thoroughly inspired! Can I ask where you got your cinematic clips from?... booming drums and cymbal swells etc. I can't wait to follow your example and have a go at this kind of stuff! Thank you for posting... made my day! :-)

Dan Ballinger good point! I should really update that :D. Up until this year I have worked as a full time school teacher, learning music composition/orchestration in my spare time. I started my interest in this in 2011, I've always played instruments in bands and orchestras before then though. Thanks Dan!

Really a band geek!!! love it! I used to be a drum major in army cadets. Playing the flute but i am pretty good at playing anything. Play by ear. Would be great to see a vid on chord progression! you have some great chords in your pieces , some would appreciate it.

Nice, nice work on the layering and building! I'm curious as to how you stream from your rig. I assume you're running a beast rig (me too!) but I'd think that some software grabbing the screen and your cam and audio all while composing would cause issues. What do you use?
@Blakus

Would you believe I also had a 3D game running minimised in the background too while recording this video? LOL. Here's a link to my current rig. blakus.com/my-setup
