I have been faffing around with ASIO Guard, enabling/disabling it selectively for only certain VST/plugins, because I have read a few articles about doing that and wanted to try that out for myself. I might go back to keeping it active all the time, after watching your video, cheers 🙂

I hope you still love that Disable feature bro because I completely abandoned it as it takes up to 15 seconds to auto-save the project and I cannot turn off the auto-save because I need it. And this long save is due to the template size that keeps growing in GBs which is another drawback.

For what it's worth, all capabilities are also available on Studio One 4: - Disable Track - Dropout protection + low latency monitoring for instruments. In the case one Studio One, there is one limitation for these low latencies monitored instruments: any effect adding more than 3 ms of latency won"t work. Any such limits in Cubase? - Scenes to define lists of viewable/hidden tracks. Not having 128 GB of RAM, I couldn't test 500+ instrument tracks.

One more thing I really wonder. I see you are on Windows 10, so on every Windows machine there is that FLS Slot Limitation, means just a certain amount of plugins can be loaded. How you deal with that when you have those immense projects? BTW the slot limit will be overcome with the next Win 10 release 1903

Hey, guys! Could you suggest, what NI Kontakt libraries for epic drums & percussion does Blakus use? Because I can't "catch" them during stream. I really want to find powerful epic drums, maybe, you use some kind of them. I will be grateful if you write me names of these libraries. Or, Blakus, will be grateful for your answer :)

Never used Cubase but curious how the track disabling works, you don't actually have a Kontakt instance on every track do you? 😅
@Blakus
@Blakus 5 жыл бұрын
I never used to, but I do now. It only uses marginally more RAM, allows me to handle all mixing/routing at a fine level in Cubase. It also opens up this possibility of working using disabled tracks, freezing tracks, etc. I feel that Cubase handles multicore processing better than Kontakt does also.

do you have a reason why you decided to have all your instruments on cubase project and not using ve pro?
@Blakus
@Blakus 5 жыл бұрын
I used to use VE Pro. The main benefit to using it was faster load times when switching projects, and spreading samples over multiple computers for more power. These days with SSDs and new generation CPU’s with huge amounts of RAM available, I personally find no need for VE pro. Having everything on one computer with the ability to easily apply effects to every channel directly in Cubase as needed is fantastic, at least for me :)
@Laurikoivisto

blakus | music for media okay, and cubase is quite stable with that amount of instruments loaded into it? (Off the record)
@Blakus
@Blakus 5 жыл бұрын
Lauri Koivisto it’s been rock solid here, especially since V10, the multi core performance is very good. My template only takes about 2mins to load too, which is acceptable for me.
@Laurikoivisto
@Laurikoivisto 5 жыл бұрын
blakus | music for media might have to try that! Ve pro has its pros but the more stuff you have between keyboard and VI, the more latency there is.
@Blakus
@Blakus 5 жыл бұрын
Lauri Koivisto true! For me it was just another layer of complexity I didn’t need anymore.
@NickHintonMusic
@NickHintonMusic 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Blake how are you? long time! Quick question. Let's say for example you want to load up a bunch of tracks at once, it looks like you're doing one articulation (ish) in one separate Kontakt instance, one stereo output, right? If I've got that right, doesn't loading up that many Kontakt instances impact your CPU a fair bit? If not, this looks like a great way to go for me. Thanks mate! Nick
@Blakus
@Blakus 5 жыл бұрын
No extra cpu hit, slight extra RAM hit. Splitting out the kontakt instances allows cubase to manage the multi core performance better though. I find it a much more user friendly way to work.

No VEP pro...all samples loaded in Cubase...no expression maps....and 1 Kontakt instance per articulation...mind blown. This goes against everything I thought I knew. Quick question how fast is your RAM these days? I'm building a new Template after 8 years and I might try building it your way.
@kimseniorb
@kimseniorb 5 жыл бұрын
Sadly cubase is a bit of shit when it comes to disabled multiout tracks(mangled outputs when enabling them) and disabled tracks still slowdown and clutter the project a lot. Importing the tracks would be a good option for modular projects, but its still problematic since the outputs get mixed up and the routing goes to shit. Only applicable to multiout tracks, single out instruments work fine
