The Fox Theatre has teamed-up with Atlanta's Skyfire Consulting to virtually open our doors to the community, while we await the day that we can safely tell our favorite stories under these stars again.

I saw so many great concerts here in the late 70’s-mid80’s Rolling Stones 1981 Van Halen 1979 Allman Bros. 1979 1980 Santana 1980, ‘81, ‘82 Kinks 1980 Rossington Collins (first concert) ZZ Top 1981 Clearly the Stones was my favorite. 2nd balcony center. But what I remember most fondly about the Fox itself, besides in being the best venue to see a concert ever, happened when I saw Santana in 1982 front row center. Back then you could get good seats by camping out. No internet. While most shows I recall seeing they had the orchestra pit covered but for this Santana show it wasn’t. I didn’t understand why until the encore. They left the stage and the entire theater was standing on their feet screaming for an encore…. And then I noticed people mat the bottom of the orchestra pit. It was Carlos and the singer and I think the bass player now standing on a what appear to be a small stage… They started playing and the stage began rising until they were on the main stage…. The only people who could see what was happening were the people in the front row. It was such an amazing and unique experience, I will never forget it. A few years ago I was back in ATL and went to library to view old newspaper to read the reviews from a lot of my favorite concerts. For some reason, I have never found anything about this particular concert.

I love Art Deco, and it appears some of it has been removed or changed, if it has, that is disappointing.
