You should try Klang Dry Bak Kut Teh , Soon Huat BKT at Bedok has that version. Tasted close enough

I dont know if anyone else has tried BKT like this but I grew up in Sungai Petani in the 90s. There used to be a family selling BKT the only one in town and it was the best one I have tasted in my life. I have tasted the ones in PJ , Klang and Sg(this one diff) and none compares to this one in SP. Sadly by late 90s they shut down and moved away I am not sure where but possibly to Penang after their youngest fav son died in a motorcycle accident. The meat was falling off the bone so tender, lots of.varieties of mushrooms straw etc not only button mushrooms like in PJ. And the condiment was the stand out..free flow of garlic, chopped large red chillies and chopped birds eye chillies paired with dark soy sauce and regular soy sauce AND wedges of green lime. Yes this lime really adds the kick to it and you dont usually find this combo. Try it with garlic soy sauce and green lime juice.

There is no other place that serve it with lime garlic mix! It’s purely sungai petani and everyone that I’ve introduced this mixed are now lime convert!

@@daniel19831123 SP lang! So glad to have met someone who remembers. Possibly a Thai influence but it works so well. Imagine my disappointment trying Sg bak kut teh with dark soy sauce...😅

@@daniel19831123 i left SP in late 90s. Never came back. Not sure aboutbthe Taman Ria one maybe its one of their sons. The parents BKT shop was on main road ie Jl Bakar Arang I think

You can use the same ingredients but with chicken pieces (thighs, drumsticks, or a combination) instead! :))

I think you should go Bak Kut Tea birthplace (Klang)巴生 there have plenty of bak kut tea shop and it will make you wow

a spice bag is good because it makes it easy to infuse the flavours without having to remove the spices individually!

We just so happen to be in KL for work and didn't manage to visit other parts of Malaysia, but we would head over to Klang whenever we can for the authentic Bak Kut Teh experience!
