Fly to Station Nord Greenland from Thule

I was posted to Nord in December 1957 to August 1958. Performing a communications site survey. Have fond memories of my time there. Would love to go back and see it again.

I worked for a year in Thule on North Mountain 1959-1960. At -40 it doesn't really matter if it's F or C - an inbreath freezes the inside of the nose - and don't touch metal with bare wet hands!

Curious, did you need permission to go there or do you have some sort of "in" that let you go there? I was under the impression that the furthest settlement you can go just as a tourist was Longyearbyen.

Longyearbyen is correct as a tourist. Anything above that is more of a military base and you do need special permission.

Went to LYR a few months ago and loved it. Years ago I actually had the chance to go to Alert for a science research project, but I was a student so I had no money and could not go. Still sometimes wish I did anyway. I guess I'll have to make more friends in the arctic.
