Inuit traditions - Seal hunting in Greenland on dog sleds

I was lucky enough to be invited to join the Inuits of northern Greenland on a seal hunt. We took off on dogsleds and spent our day out on the sea ice. We saw a total of 9 seals but only were able to connect with one. The seal escaped us and our day ended empty handed. You could see the disappointment in the faces of these guys coming home without a catch. This is how the live and they use every part of the seal. Not having a successful hunt meant that both their dogs and themselves go home hungry. This is the way of life in the far north, without these traditions these people could not survive.

How anyone could possibly think this garbage they call music should accompany a Native Inuit hunt video is beyond me.I would have enjoyed watching the entire video but found it impossible due to this techno - noise pollution. When you want to hear the sounds of the ice and the seals and the people , clicking mute isn't an option. Why not choose Native music to accompany the video?? You know, something that actually fits.smdh

In many places outside your bubble locals just don't like "traditional" music because they are totally annoyed about it so they use modern music, this is common from the Caribbean to India.

I think the Caucasian guys who lust after wild game trophies as a representation of their masculinity constantly confuse getting them with machismo and being “cool.” Thus the pounding, screeching head banging noise as background. A lot of native people prefer silence to music. Lest you misapprehend me as some girly non-hunter, so far I have shot, killed, and butchered four deer so far this year. Another three deer tags are in my pocket. And I didn’t do any fist pumps, chest beating, or listen to any screaming electric guitar riffs.

@@TalaR04 our deer patterns are way off this year. The hillsides have few to no wild game paths. I’ve been waiting and stalking all week and have not seen one deer. It’s like a switch went off. And I use open sights, so I must get within 150 yards, preferably closet, to make the kill. I hope you get out!
