Good pattern, used it for a good number of years . Sometimes gets called "the Grayling Slayer"
@lindsayiflyfish3 жыл бұрын
There are a few flies get called that John ;-)
@johndingwall12103 жыл бұрын
@@lindsayiflyfish yes a few patterns get called that rightly or wrongly lol . I blend hare's ear , grey squirrel and fox squirrel in a coffee grinder to make the scruffy dubbing. Sometimes add some pearl litebrite into as well , which can be good at times . My take on it , everyone has their own trusted and tried version.

Nice pattern, as always you make it so easy to tye. Lindsay could you make a video of a fly pattern for barbel?
@lindsayiflyfish3 жыл бұрын
I have caught a barbel once in France but I am not sure the pattern was meant for Barbel. I will ask a friend and see if I can come up with something.

The only neat nymphs for grayling are ptn stoneflies and iron dun. Everything else simple/scruffy equals life and food. Even had grayling on small hopper/daddies. You know the water is healthy if it holds a good head of grayling. As for not looking down the uv or laser resin curing torch that is the same as don’t eat yellow snow or lick a lorry tyre while vehicle is still moving. The uv is not that much of a risk compared to the laser that is an actual danger

I never knew you fished the rivers as well Mick.

@@lindsayiflyfish used to fish the northern rivers several times a week. The Derwent near Rowlands Gill the Till on the Wooler beats mainly targeting wild brownies and grayling. At last light totally fluked a fresh run sea trout on an eight ounce tippet over four pound released safely after over half an hour’s of up and down the bank including one flat on my arse and a full face plant in a deeper pool luckily I had a spare pair of glasses in my Dad’s caravan there. It took two days to find them about fifty yards downstream from the spot I lost them. The bailiff was in pain watching me fly rod using a fridge magnet to try and locate my specs. Boy did I take some stick over that one. On that second day my catch return was a dozen assorted rusty nails three screws three bolts assorted beer bottle caps and jar lids a short length of chain complete with sink plug. One pair of expensive spectacles.

@@lindsayiflyfish it's no problem, I have found pictures of the sun that are working just as well. Just make sure it's not of the sunset as the uv rays are not as intense as the full sunlight of midday;)
@davidboshell94153 жыл бұрын
LCD screens do not emit uv radiation, so cheap varnish curing is out as is cheap tanning. Sorry.
