The technique you used on the rear hackle and rib is one I use when tying elk hair Caddis I'm glad to see it has other applications as well. Nice fly by the way. I'm gonna tie up a mess of these for some pan fish.

Incorporating techniques from other flies makes you better at tying new patterns. Use your imagination and you'll be suprised what happens.
