Fly Tying: Gartside's Soft Hackle Streamer With Martyn White

The flies of Jack Gartside are wonderful in their simplicity and effectiveness. The softhackle streamer is no exception to this, it's full of life and movement in even the lightest of currents. It can be swung for salmon or smallmouth, fished in lakes for largemouth, barramundi or others, it can even be used for tarpon, snook and others on the flats. In short, you need this super effective fly in your box wherever you fish.

Materials
Hook: Straight eye size 4-3/0 I've used a Fulling Mill stinger, but depending on species you may wish to use a Gamakatsu SL12 or SC15
Thread: Any
Tail: Crystal flash or flashabou
Body: 2 marabou plumes
Collar: A duck flank feather such as mallard, teal or widgeon

Hi Martyn! Long-time fisherman, beginner fly fisherman and brand new fly tier here! Couple of bloodworms and a mullet Bach under my belt courtesy your videos. I’m sure you’re tired of answering this but what head cement do you use? Thanks for your videos!

Glad you found them helpful. For head cement I just use clear nail polish, sometimes I thin it a little.
