I bought a new blender to mix the dubbing. Do i need to blunt the blades or can I use them as is . Appreciated
@MakfliesАй бұрын
@@JohanPieterse-y5p thank you Johan, I don’t think you need to blunt them as long as one has sharp side up and one has down 👍

Where do you get the big bag of squirrel hair? I can't find a big quantity like that anywhere.

Hi Shannon,,, I found a Road Kill and shaved it of myself, I think you can buy hole Skinn from ebay, and shave it :)

Hi Mak. I would like to ask you something for you to advise me given your experience. When it comes to handling squirrel hair (or hare mask hair), and I'm not talking about dubbing, just the hair that we put in the loops of thread, for example in nymphs legs/hackles , I try to pull strands of the squirrel's own skin (or hare mask), but I find it a bit complicated. My question is, do you pull the hair from the skin every time you need a small pile or, on the contrary, do you already have in a box a certain amount of hair that you have previously shaved or cut and take it out of there? I would like to know which technique is more recommended, since there are squirrel skins (or hare mask) that have very short hair and pulling the strands is sometimes certainly complicated. Thanks Mak... and Happy New Year and most importantly, take care of yourself.

Thank you Jorge, I can understand what you mean, I actually do both. But if you can find Shaver, it would be easier to shave them & then use Blender to mix them, you will find them lot easier to dub on thread, :))

Hi Mak, I have caught many fish on your flies. I can’t thank you enough for you videos! It’s a great inspiration for all. Many thanks for sharing. Is it a coffee grinder your using to blend the materials? And if so, what’s the make and model. Many thanks Iain.

Thank you Iain,, I am glad you like my Videos, and catching fish,, As for the dubbing Blender, you can buy any coffee Blender ,as long as the blades are curved opposite to each other, one blade should face Downward & other upward Regards,,,,,Mak
