I have been doing that tippet trick on my flies since the late 1980s, I fish a lot and I wanted more durable flies, I also use super glue at times too. Back in the day, I didn't like the bulk I would get with the threads that we had then, so I used Spider Web that Danville makes, it was the only I guess 18/0 you could get. It's white, the fish never cared and it can be colored with a sharpie if you had the need to. Three of my biggest Rainbow Trout were caught back to back on a # 22 Griffiths Gnat and 6x tippet. 15, 12 and 9 pounds. And I was a day early for my guided fishing trip. It's such a good simple easy to tie, fly. I keep a dedicated fly box with nothing but those in it. I will switch out fly boxes depending on the time of year, but that one is always in my Vest or hip bag.

George Semel it’s really is a great pattern. Big fish eat small flies too, as you know!

@@bluelineangler8450 Oh yeah. First fish had me into the backing in the blink of an eye. 44 min to land. Rod was a 8'6" 4 wt Scott G2, Hardy LRH Reel , SA DT-4F. Leader, I tied myself from a George Anderson formula he wrote about in Fly Fisherman back in the 1980's! Tippet was a french material I liked because it came on 110 yard spools. Not made anymore, and Dai Rikki tippet materal for the mid section. I have not seen that around either. Dan Bailey's imported that one from Japan. Strongest stuff at the time. This all took place in 1990, I was 35 then. The place San Juan River, New Mexico. Was the start of a great week, only counted fish over 20 inches, landed 97 fish that week per my journal entries. It's like it was yesterday. I also hit a bit of Colorado before and after. too.

Mark Sleeper I used a whiting 1/4 saddle hackle. Size 14-16 grizzly
