Hey Tim, after watching this video last week, I went to my local fly shop to get some rainbow dubbing and I found those rainbow glass beads. You can't imagine my surprise. Next day I catch a 18 inch brown with this fly. As always you've done a great vid. Thanks for your teaching

I have used it as a scud dubbing, or thorax on nymphs, I just have fallen in love with the color. Mostly the Dark rainbow. If you mix it with rabbit or arctic fox, even otter it gives a great buggy appearance and has almost lifelike coloration when wet. You'd have to try it to see what I mean. You know how the natural gives some translucency and then the colors of the rainbow show through when wet. It is remarkable. All the best, Sean

Thanks for the comments, Fishinrebel10; the beads really show some vivid colors that definitely add to this pattern. You can get them from Rip Lips Fishing (the link is in my comments section) and they run around $12 for 100 tungsten beads. Thanks again, and good luck with the pattern.

Ryan, I don't see why they wouldn't, though I have not personally used their rainbow beads. I have used their gold/brass, but I prefer Rip Lips Fishing for their tungsten beads. Hope this helps!

Great vid. I fish this pattern regularly, and am going to tie up a few with the rainbow tungsten bead. Hopefully, some wild NC mountain trout will appreciate them.

Tim. Love the xtra info in your vids. Will have to pick up some rainbow beads. Was a little surprised with how much difference in color showed up. I personally have had equal success on both tailwater and freestones in colorado with a rainbow warrior tied with a nickle tungsten bead. Won't leave home without a few. Again..ty for the vids and tight lines

Thanks for the kind words ranawayfromsanity, and I'm glad to know you enjoy the extra information given throughout. I also appreciate you sharing the info. related to the nickel tungsten beads. The rainbow beads are a nice addition to use on those especially pressured trout, which is when I tend to use them. Thanks again, and I look forward to your comments on other vids. Tim

Hey Tim, You got to try Hareline scud dub rainbow in light and dark. It is really marvelous because it is all colors but shiny too. I just got some in and have been going nuts with it mixing it into almost everything to add color and flash to small flies. All the best to you, Sean

Nice tie Tim. I really like the Rainbow Beads. Thanks for the tip on where to get them. Great Prices; not sure about their shipping cost (couldn't find anything about it on their website). I watch a guy tie this last weekend at our local fly tying expo here in Salt Lake City. He added some partridge legs in front of the wing case. It really looks slick with that extra step. Thanks for your great videos.

+UtahFlyGuy I like that addition of the partridge; thanks for sharing it! Regarding the cost, you'll have to defer to that site, and maybe they have a contact email? Good luck, and enjoy this pattern! Tim

Thanks for the reply, Sean; I have some in both colors and really like it. Do you just add it as a thorax to various patterns? Tim

Great video. My friend usually does good with this pattern. How much we're those beads? I really like the vivid coloration they have and nights pick some up.

Hi Tim, I found the dubbing at Caddis Fly Shop, Eugene Or. I do have a tech?. When I wrap the hackle on a soft hackle I sometimes get a flat spot on the bottom. I am using the bagged hackle if that makes a difference.
@TimCammisa

Glad to know you found it, Gilbert. What do you mean by a flat spot? In this video, I show how I typically wrap a soft hackle; let me know if you're doing anything different. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ3TqmiuesainJY Tim

Tim Cammisa I'm sorry what I meant to say was an area where there is hackle barbs hanging down. I just found your video on tying soft hackles. It did help. Thank you.

Tim, do you use slotted beads for this pattern?

Hi Michael, and yes I will, especially on jig hooks. Imagine it looking something like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aomqhWuElMmMbNk Hope all is well! Tim www.troutandfeather.com

Thank you. So if I don't use a jig hook, should I stick with a regular non-slotted bead.

Where can I get the rainbow dubbing. No fly shop's in my area carries it. So far the internet is no help either.

Gilbert, you can do a Google search for "Hareline Rainbow Scud Dub" to find it, and there are two shades, light and dark. I use both shades, and you can select based on the water conditions you'll be fishing in. Thanks for checking. Tim www.troutandfeather.com

what size of bead is that ?

The size varies based on the hook. In that case, it's approximately 5/64 for the given company I shared for those beads. TC
