A fantastic fly, one of my favorites alongside March brown.

Simple and deadly. Flies like these are worth their weight in gold. A favourite.

Wow, that looks very footery to tie. Nice fly and video.🤙🙂🏴

It's quite easy once you get the hang of it. You need to keep a constant and equal tension on both the hackle and thread as you make the wraps.

Thanks for demonstrating the hackle technique. Have read about it but couldn't quite visualize it.

Is the wax important in helping with the twisting of the hackle and the thread? If not, why not just use black silk?
@thedalesangler2 ай бұрын
You would have to ask Mr Stewart for the reasoning behind using waxed brown silk.

Hi Robert. Question, I know historically wax is used for "silk" patterns and influences overall color. That said, was the choice of wax primarily the "dark cobbler" version you are using for this Spider? Thanks
@thedalesangler2 ай бұрын
Yes. I used a dark wax. Technically not cobblers wax as the wax I used is my own formula.

I generally fish it in a size 16 but used a size 14 for the camera.
