Thanks Tim, I hope you enjoy the book. I generally fish dry fly when i'm down on Dartmoor. But on the occasions i have fished spiders, i've found the Spring Black, Orange Partidge, Broughton Point, Black Magic, Light Spanish Needle and Waterhen Bloa to be highly productive. Hope that helps. Rob

@@fieldsman3307 in the last few years I've had some nice brown trout on the Tywi, though sadly the sewin have all but disappeared. The Teifi too has some nice browns and tho not a river Teifi pools is always worth a visit on the right day. i love fishing in mid Wales, would rather it than Scotland which is, apart from the far North, overrated. tight lines for 2025 and all the best.

Beautiful wee river, Robert, and some lovely shots on your slideshow there. I spent many happy (and frustrating!) hours on this stream in the 1990s. I've 2 stretches of club water here that I really ought to visit next year. Thanks for prompting me and compliments of the season 👍👍

I was just watching one of your videos and thought hold on, I've seen this man before! I met you on the cherrybrook, the day that there was a thunderstorm. It's been my first year fly fishing for wild brown trout in rivers and, I've rather fallen in love with it. On the small Dartmoor Rivers I've generally been using a dry fly but next year I wish to try and experiment more with nymphs for when they're not looking up

Probably, as it is early in Kirkbride's list of flies. I've fished it on the Wharfe, and had some good catches with it. But, as with all traditional split wing dry flies, a couple of fish, and the wings start to fall apart. But, having said that, it is nice to see a traditional split wing dry fly dancing down stream.
