Stunning looking fly Ryan can't believe for a fly that nice I done a KZbin search and yours is the only one. I can't see any reason for not using Opal tinsel rather than the braid ?. I'm starting to really like the jungle cock under a light hackle

ive seen a bucktail version and then one like this was entered in the tie of the month competition on the salmonfishingforum i tied one as an opal body first but tbh it would need a silk underbody given its size , the bucktail one used braid so i went with that

@@RyanHoustonflytying do you think a light blue or grey silk underbody would work ?. Also I have been thinking a lot about trying a classic salmon fly with married wings what would you recommend for the coloured slips ? Preferably not too expensive but also easier to work with ? Thanks again

Beautiful fly Ryan. I'd have a go, but apart from Jungle cock, I have none of the materials that you used. I'll improvise and call it a Jones special variant that looks very like a teal blue and silver lol. Great video anyway, and I have to mention again that I love your doubling technique.

thanks Ian the original one uses white bucktail and the brown bit from same tail as overwing, the hackle is simply a sub for heron maybe a big partridge feather or even guinea fowl at the front?
