This pattern called the Knotted Midge is found in Jonathan Pickard's List of Wharfedale Flies dating to 1820.
Materials Used;
Hook: Size 14
Silk: Raven Grey or Ash (Pearsalls No.10)
Body: Dubbed with the fur taken from a hare's scut/tail
Hackle: A feather taken from between the wing and body of a Peewit/Lapwing. ( A good substitute being a non mottled snipe over-covert)
