Apparently from other videos on KZbin you can program atti mode on a switch instead of 3d mode which means it flies just like gps mode but doesnt stay absolutely in one fixed place, IE it can drift a bit with the wind, however it will prevent gps flyaways.

Thank you for this information I will have a look for the videos as this could be useful especially when I don't use the 3D switch. 👍

Bad luck Pete. It might be worth shielding the GPS wires to eliminate any interference. I do that on my ZMR250 quad. I have some sticky copper tape I wrap around it. I'll sort you some out if you think it would help.

I have two helis with H1 controllers and apart from this incident they have worked faultlesly. Having said that I also am moving towards standard flybarless units. The main thing is not to give up on the hobby. Happy flying and thanks for watching my channel.

Same issue yesterday with my bell 206 v3. Got a crash too. If that will happen again, how could I regain control? What would you do in such a situation? How to avoid a crash?
@All_things_RC.3 ай бұрын
Hi Andreas I have lost GPS on two occasions. All you can do is Switch to 3D mode and back to GPS and hope it reconnects. Be very careful not to switch to home because you would have to go through the full start up procedure. If this is the case the heli will have crashed before the full start up procedure is complete. On the last occasion I lost GPS signal there was was a Geostorm (solar flare) which affected GPS signal throughout the UK and Western Europe. I noticed there was another Geostorm forecast through Thursday until Sunday but this wasn't Europe. One other preventative measure I have taken is to use a hot glue to glue the multi plugs to the receive and H1 controller to ensure they don't come loose. I have seen on forums and communications to me it is a common fault that the multi pin connectors work loose over time. I hope this is helpful please let me know how you get on with the heli in the future and any thoughts you have on the above.

I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully not too much damage. I believe this incident was caused by GPS black out. There was alot of problems with GPS loss across all applicationsin the UK on this day.

Shame the signal kept dropping out. I read below it could have been due to the geo storm. One thing I'd like to ask though for my own clarification, once you had lost GPS signal, does the system automatically switch to 3D mode or did you switch to 3D mode on the TX? I recently bought a 500 sized Airwolf (Thinking that having a panic button with GPS hold might help in not crashing as much lol) and I'm spending lots of time on a sim to get my rusty thumbs back after 20 years away from RC helis.
@All_things_RC.3 ай бұрын
Hi Steve if the GPS signal is lost it goes into 3D mode automatically. Providing you leave the switch in GPS mode it will come back automatically also. If you go back to run you have to go through the whole set up process which the heli would have crashed by the time you do this. As good as the H1 controllers are for beginner pilots I am now starting to fly using flybarless units as I am loosing faith in the GPS signal. Good luck with the Airwolf and welcome back to the hobby.

also, where did u mount the gps antenna?
@All_things_RC.7 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff, I mounted them backwards into the open space of the fuselage in a V pattern (90deg appart).

Could your GPS issues be related to the recent solar storm activity..

This had crossed my mind. The only damage was to replace the blades and a good look over the model found everything in good condition. I carried out a re calibration on the tx and H1 unit. I flew here Saturday and the same thing happened with intermittent GPS signal. I managed to land with no damage. Saturday was the hight of the Geo Storm. Maybe it was this. I will have another good look over the heli, re calibrate and try again.

i had this issue today with my fly wing airwolf
@All_things_RC.4 ай бұрын
Hi Adrian, sorry to hear you had a problem and I hope you can repair your heli. On the day this happened to my B206 I had issues with my H1 controller in my EC145 also. During that day there had been a geo storm (something in space) that effected GPS signals in the UK and Western Europe. I had to recalibrate my GPS on the 206 due to the crash but not on my EC145. Both helis have flown many times since that day and without any issue. Allot of people tell me Geo storms don't effect GPS signals but for me this was too much of a coincidence especially when I haven't had issues since and on the same day all air traffic in the UK was disrupted due to signal loss. This was so extreme all flights were grounded for a short period. I am not saying this is your case but GPS signals are not as reliable as we think. I hope you will be soon back in the air and happy flying in the future.

get rid of the magnets on the front shell. Interfere with gps signal.
@All_things_RC.7 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff I flew two GPS Models on day 2 of a 3 day Geo storm, both suffered intermittent lack of control. Days two and three were the worst days of the Geo storm which effected most GPS applications in the UK. This included commercial airliners, and car sat navs among others. The H1 controller has worked flawlessly in both models up to this day and since. I wrapped the cable from the H1 controller to the GPS unit in copper foil to prevent interference. The Geo storm is the only explanation for GPS issues I faced on the day but like most electrical issues its hard to confirm this.

@@All_things_RC. I have the understanding that due to the war in the Ukraine, the GPS Sats. at times are being shut down causing problems...
@All_things_RC.7 ай бұрын
@@jeffkraus1457 Hi Jeff not the war in Ukraine. I think this is something that happens in space that that effects GPS, weather etc. Over the three days of the Geo storm (as reported by news channels) we could even see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) clearly in the south of England. This is the first time I have seen them in 60 years. I can only assume this phenonemum effected the GPS usage in the UK and it was on the news with lots of reports of Commercial Airliners having to be re routed due to GPS issues.

You should put the GPS outside because the GPS is not like the V3.
@All_things_RC.8 ай бұрын
Thank you for the advice. I have flown over 100 Flights with the setup as was and 8 flights since without issue. I believe that the loss of GPS was caused by the Geo storm that happened over three days. This incident happened on the second day of the three day storm. In and around the UK there was 100s of issues where GPS was being used including full size aircraft, cars, mobile phones etc. I also I had alot of vibration on the vertical fin which could have affected the operation of the Heli. If the problem re-occurs I will put the GPS outside the fus.
