Hi, I was lucky enough to take a year off work, buy a camper and me, the wife and my son’s dog went hunting and fishing the South Island for twelve months. We only stopped at three camping grounds to do a bit of washing and repairs. We mostly asked permission from farmers to park on their property when the river run through their land, great friendly people! We fished every foreshore, lake and river that we could reach safely. Lived off the land and sea and had great fishing and food. My wife threatened to write a book about our travels, but luckily we were too busy living the life. The hardest thing is always the first step, live and learn and ask a lot of questions. Cheers mate. Harera

Thank you for sharing such an amazing adventure! Love the Creede Hat by the way! My husband and I grew up fishing the Rio Grande and the various other areas around Creede. We try to visit there as much as possible, as it is one place that is not as 'touristy' like many other spots in Colorado. Excellent editing on your videos too. They are very enjoyable to view, and you help the viewer see the scenery from your vantage point, which is quite nice. Happy fishing! 🎣

Thank you! I lived in Creede for 6 months a year since 2018, love that place. It's still less touristy than the rest of CO but it's crazy how much it's changed recently...

I absolutely love 1:01:16 where your stoked reaches the moon. That kind of stoke is what I feel every time I cast a line on the Saint Vrain here in Colorado. Excellent work, Sam! What a beautiful brown. I'll be fishing northland (Waihou River) in early April. Lower sections, near Okoroire -- just a few minutes away from Hobbiton. I'm also looking into the Waikato and Tauranga.

You are truly blessed to be able to do a trip like that. Wish I had that kind of time off but if I ever do, at least I know it's possible to DIY it in New Zealand. That rainforest spot is incredible. Fish that big and no one else around. That would never happen in the US with spots that have trout that big.

Oh wow, only 30 k subscribers? This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Most KZbin fishing videos seem to focus around gopros, large carp / lack of interest in anything but the individual fish. This is beautiful. Especially the landscape images. I spent 3 weeks in NZ south Island and this video took my right back (as in, you captured what I felt about the place). Those big old eels are my favourite, by far. Keep at it, will be keeping eye out for new videos from now on.

i had bad reactions to the sandflies the first trip around greymouth ,the second trip with some knowledge i overcame the problem , gloves with the points of the fingers cut off when wet wading always covered legs just make sure no exposed flesh ware a sun protection thing people ware when fishing in the tropics

Some great fishing & an epic trip thanks for taking the time to show us your efforts. I was so proud of you for having a landing net, however if I may point out that handling the fish as much as you did creates issues with their survival once you finally released them. They may swim away after the hero photos are taken, although picking them up out of the water with dry hands & having them struggle in rocky shallow water as well as holding them up on their own weight is very damaging & it limits their survival. You put a lot of work & effort into making the account of your travels a little more care with the fish would be a fantastic add on to the experience.
@FLYALLSZNАй бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I appreciate your passion for the health of these fish, the "hero shots" were very brief, I made sure to get every fish back quickly. Hands were wet, fish swam back strong, I've looked into this subject a lot and feel good about everything I did.
