This is the full length version of my Arctic Canyons trip from the summer of 2023, that was originally released in a 5 part mini-series. A few FAQ's below: 1) For Gear List, Canyon Map, and other relevant info on this trip: suluk46.com/arctic-canyons 2) My boat is an Alpacka Gnarwhal packraft, with full white water rigging (thigh straps, backband, skirt) and my gear stores inside the inflated tubes 3) Want to know more details about this trip? Canoehound Outdoor Adventure Show interview is here: kzbin.infozYne_egt3fQ?si=QJTUilwHig0XfgkB 4) Because of the length of the video, I've broken it down into chapters so it is easier to watch a part of it and come back to find where you left off: Trailer - 0:01 Chapter 1 - 2:23 Chapter 2 - 37:08 Chapter 3 - 1:23:15 Chapter 4 - 2:03:32 Chapter 5 - 2:50:00

This was epic. I clicked on it and thought I'd catch fifteen minutes. I watched the entire thing in one go. Couldn't stop. One of the best solo adventures I've ever seen. I'll probably dream of white-water river-canyons for a week.

Super happy to hear you liked it. This trip really was epic. I've got another long form video coming out next month if a pretty gnarly sub Arctic trip I did last summer.

Oddly enough, I was talking with my buddy about 2026 trips and we were throwing around the Back River as an option. I did the Koroc and Andre Grenier up in the Torngat Mountains this summer and I've got 2025 expeditions all planned out. Back River might be the one!

Well it took me three days to watch the entire video. This adventure is superb! I started watching a lot of Canadian Adventure videos in 2020 when covid shut down normal life and your video is it the top of the list! Yes the word lucky is appropriate but so is planning as in the two years of planning it took you to embark on an adventure of a lifetime! Some quick questions: 1. did you worry about having only one paddle? 2. Did you see any fossils? How did you inflate your packraft? 3. How would your rate the Durston Tent? 4. Is there more content for this trip watching the 5 separate videos or does the movie cover everything? Finally your packrafting white water skills are impressive! You determination and perseverance are incredible. Bravo! This is an award winning video!

Thanks for the nice comments. This was a very special trip, and one that I will never forget. Ok, to answer your questions 1) Not really. While it would definitely not be ideal to lost the paddle, there was always the option to drop all the paddling gear and hike back to the ocean. 2) I didn't but I wish I spent more time exploring. The canyon is fairly intimidating when you are in it, so I really focused on just trying to run the river, nothing else really. The packraft comes with a giant bag that you fill with air from waving it around, and then transfer to the packraft. I've shown how I do it in so many videos that I typically leave that part out now. If you google it, you will find a video of it fairly easily. Takes about 5 minutes. 3) Love the Durston tent. It's awesome, would probably pick up something that is freestanding for my next trip up there. I sued it on my big expedition this past summer and really struggled to get it set up given the tough conditions. 4) If you watched this, you have seen it all, but I;ve got another coming out in a month from a Torngats Mountain trip from last summer, it was wild. Anyway, hope that helps, and have fun!

Beautiful presentation! I enjoy watching your problem solving as you go down the canyons. Three questions- where are the bugs? Did you do any fishing? What kind of tent were you using? I am still only around the third canyon.
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 19 күн бұрын
Thanks. It was a wild trip. I don't know where the bugs were, definitely not bad when I was there. Pretty hot and dry for the area, so that might have been the reason. I didn't do any fishing, although I hear the fishing is world class up there. The tent I used on this trip was a Durston X-Mid Pro 1. It's honestly an amazing tent.

Amazing adventure. Some thoughts: why go alone? Why not fix the packraft with a line to a foot? What gear, watch, backpack, shoes did you use? Happy New Year

Glad you liked it! I mostly go solo because no one will ever come with me on these trips. Too much time off work, too expensive, etc. Attaching your boat to your body isn't something I would want to do, better to just hold onto it and let go if needed. If you look at the pinned comment of this video, there is a link to the map, gearlist, and interview I did all for this trip. Enjoy!

Hi Steve. Just found your channel. Very excellent!! We have a TC16 that we use for float trips. Which make and model is your inflatable kayak? Thank you.

Awesome! I used an Alpcaka Gnarwhal for this trip. Full white dress after rigging and a spray skirt. Worked very well.

@Suluk46 Started watching your films. My wife and I discovered Killarney in 2019. Rented canoes from the outfitter. She said she would never canoe. The next day I had her out on the. Georgian Bay! Then we bought our Sea Eagle and we take that thing everywhere NSE and W from near Chicago. Camping/hiking plus water makes the trips 5x better. Now thinking about the pack kayak for hiking trips after watching your tundra excursions.

I tried to get it done earlier but I was having a bunch of issues with the quality for some reason. Never a problem with the shorter videos but this one would never render properly. Anyway, I bought new software a couple of weeks ago and finally got it done. Hope you liked it, it was a long one!

Would a drone have been legal to fly? Seems would be a good tool for scouting.

Maybe, scouting with a drone isn't my favorite technique though. And yes, it would also be illegal while in the park.
