I live close to Leeds-Bradford. Flying to London is too short a distance to make it worthwhile. I can be in central London in about 3hrs going by train. Flying is only useful if you are joining a connecting flight out of LHR.

Great to see flybe back in the air and even better to see them at LBA! The airport has done well to get flybe on the london route plus we have belfast too. We fly down to heathrow on June 4th staying overnight then on to vegas the following day with virgin, we looked at the train and it was £450 return I got flights for £280 return. You would think being an internal flight they would skip the security line and use another entrance, jersey air did that last time right next to where you check in with flybe.
@r12004rewy2 жыл бұрын
Having separate lane for internal flights would be too easy. Flybe not making much money on that flight with 17 passengers and it was late leaving (Flybe of old)
@LETSGOInflightAviation2 жыл бұрын
No matter when it’s domestic or international, aviation security is of paramount importance. You can’t just skip it, at the end of the day any flight no matter where it’s flying to/from could be at risk of a security threat

@@LETSGOInflightAviation I'm not suggesting that security be compromised but a separate lane for internal flights would reduce the queues, unfortunately our airports seem unable to accept the increase in overseas travel since the end of travel restrictions, to have only 2 security lanes available for hundreds of passengers was a total fiasco.

Security was appalling but it seems to be a phenomenon at the moment. I wonder if fast track would have improved it much. When BA flew it, I suspect the route was used for connections or for a quick tier point run with a B2B (that would have been my motive).
@LETSGOInflightAviation2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s very common at the moment. It’s really difficult for airports but when you’re flying on a quick hour hop down to LHR it makes it so much less worthwhile! Like you say with BA, many people used it for connecting. Would be good to see Flybe arrange some codeshare agreements. Fast track was quicker taking it back to normal queuing times. They were calling flights on last call through fast track as well though, to make sure nobody missed their flights

In the recent weeks I have travelled through DUS/AMS/BCN/NAP/MAD and in none of those was there any problem with long queues at security. The reason in the UK is simple - Brexit which robbed the country of many of the employees who worked at airports and for whom security clearance was easy to secure. The UK government in its hapless and hurried exit from the EU has bought this on its own people.
