⚠️UPDATE❗️This video doesn’t show the best method for assembly (as it’s mostly a review video) but luckily there’s a great assembly video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/goOTXpqoaNGpjrc 🙌

Yah just noticed your line was pinched when you clamps the placid on. Did that make it impossible to adjust the length of the line?

Thanks Chad! I’m so glad this review helped you. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do is just cut through all the noise out there in product reviews and give people my perspective on using the gear and keep it entertaining. You’re gonna love the Flycam!

The first one I linked was from my Amazon purchase history, then I noticed it was out of stock so I found and linked you the one you see in the comments, but I just noticed it doesn’t have the male thread to screw into the handle, it has the female thread. So here’s one with the male thread: thegripstore.com/products/stainless-steel-3-8-lifting-eye-bolt-unc-marine-grade?variant=39306303668247¤cy=USD&gclid=CjwKCAiA-9uNBhBTEiwAN3IlNN-UvLliJgOQ5jWd25_c3WuC1YcV-NZ3fL89ZHEsWfzUcP9RqQcwrRoCIu0QAvD_BwE

Le Pourek I know, I had already put mine together by the time I made this review and it was such a pain to get it on there. There really needs to be a whole video just on how to attach that.

I just received this unit in the mail yesterday and spent a lot of time putting it together - or trying to. I am using it with a BMCP4k with a cage, monitor and lots of other weights on it, but still is a pretty light camera compared to most cinema cameras. The "placid" part is not acting the way I see it acting in videos, even after I've changed to the smaller spring on the unit it still isn't placid in any way. Any chance you know of a decent tutorial how to assemble this? Even just good detailed photos of how the very top of the placid should look would help me. At the moment I have to really pull super hard for it to even move down. Something is wrong and since there's no good documentation I feel like I'm just messing things up. Help!

Trevor Jacobson I believe the issue may be with inside the arm where the rope passes through the tiny plastic ring. That part seems to create friction or resistance to the rope and doesn’t allow the weight to pass through the system appropriately. You could try removing that ring, although I haven’t attempted it myself. I hope that helps!

The adjustable knob at the back will do other than adjusting the wire length up and down? How does it work with adding and removing tension?
@JarredCordova4 жыл бұрын
I actually have the Flycam in my wish list, next better paying gig I was going to look into getting something similar... That or like an arm and vest system honestly.... Do you have any experience with like glidcams and stuff?
@stuartswindellcampoy84833 ай бұрын
Ok it does make you get smoother shots when youre standing still and maybe shifting body left to right in the spot tryingnto get a slider like movement. But when walking its way better to just hold it in your hands and try and be smooth , make sure it isnt attached to the cam cause the flycam or easy rig transfers every movement to the camera making it unusable

Do you think this system can handle a 40lb camera rig? The specs says the spring arm can handle up to 44lbs but the flowline can only handle up to 17lbs. That’s from amazon.

I like Fly Cam. I was treated very rudely by the Easy Rig people.
@focusmedia24652 жыл бұрын
This industry definitely has some people that can be snobs and turn you off from certain things. I recall when I started out going to a local camera store and they treated me poorly because I didn't already know everything about cameras. I never gave them my business and ended up renting from somewhere else. It baffles me how rude people can be for no reason. Glad you dig the product though and thanks for stopping by the channel!

I would not recommend that, I assume not many people have experience with these flowlines. All I know is that I saw one being used on a commercial and the line snapped after a few hours, the camera (Red Epic) fell lens first on a glass dinner table that cost a few thousand dollars. No one was happy, Not the owner of the Table (the client) not the rental house that owned the camera and lens and not the Production company that damaged its reputation forever. Please don't buy a cheap knockoff if you have an Arri that is just stupid.

Does this help stabilize your shout during handheld?
@focusmedia24652 жыл бұрын
All it really does is take the weight off your arms and only while really still. So when you are standing in one place or in between takes/shots, it will provide a lot of relief. It lets you get more handheld shots in that sense, versus using a monopod or tripod so that you can move with more fluidity, but as soon as you try walking with it, you'll see the restriction in your movement as the rig amplifies every step that you take. If you want to use something like an FX3 and go handheld, then you are far better off just using your arms. Even using a Ronin with the ring, the up and down motion of walking with this rig just messes you up. So it's great and has it's uses but it's definitely not going to be the perfect solution for many shots. Sorry it took me forever to respond, I never saw your comment :/
