Watching Richards in the alumni game brought me so much joy. Very happy to see he’s being reintegrated into the Flyers organization a bit.

Why did they trade him???

@Mike-jf8xq they got good value for him. Wayne Simmons and Brayden Schenn.

@@Mike-jf8xqi posted this same question in the comments section. The summer of 2011 was the downfall of this organization and we have been mediocre ever since. Traded Carter and Richards. Signed Bryzgalov, which Bobrovsky was gone. SMH

@@stephengiannone5449Good value for Carter/Richards? The Simmonds/Coots/Vorachek/Schenn era was the era of mediocrity that are still in today. Carter/Richards era got us to the Eastern Conference Final in 2008 and Stanley Cup Final in 2010.

@chrisolivo6591 they gave up to early on schenn.

He has such a smart mind. It seems like he passively watches and has so much good analysis of the game. He should be involved somewhere In a management position. He’s a winner.

He mentions the Sabres trading players that move on to win a cup. That sound familiar.

I wonder how much of Buffalo's struggles these days are due to modern players playing in a tertiary market like Buffalo that is cold and snowy during the winter and also being somewhere that doesn't have much of a night life with lots to do. I know hockey players typically come from colder climates in Canada, Scandinavia, US northern states, and Russia but I wonder if once they get the taste of the warm that is what they prefer and deliberately under perform/cause issues to get traded out of Buffalo.

That 2011 offseason was really the downfall of the Flyers organization and they have never been the same. The 2010-11 Flyers won 47 games that year and finished first in the Atlantic Division. So what did they do in the offseason, break up the nucleus. Traded Richards/Carter and signed Bryzgalov. That meant Bobrovsky’s days were numbered as a Flyer. To this day, I will never understand those moves as we have been a mediocre team now for a decade+.
@tricky92xКүн бұрын
Stop. Both trades netted great value overall. They were both mediocre depth players with the Kings, especially Richards, who was pretty much cooked within three years of the trade.
@chrisolivo6591Күн бұрын
@@tricky92xJeff Carter had 25 points for the Kings during the 2014 Stanley Cup run. Lol. I swear we could have the dumbest sports fans in hockey as you guys will believe any PR spin the Flyers put out.
@tricky92xКүн бұрын
@@chrisolivo6591 Let's see... Jeff Carter averaged 41 points per season for the Kings, meanwhile Voracek averaged 61 points per season for the Flyers. That's not even mentioning Couturier who won a Selke trophy. That trade was in the Flyers favor without Couturier. Yeah... Carter had one great playoff run. Cool. And, I noticed that you didn't even mention the trainwreck that is Mike Richards. You are intellectually dishonest at best, and just a plain retard at worst.
