Fly Fishing Skill Builder #16 | Coloring Hackle, Twisting CDC and Marabou, and Durable Hackle

These SKILL BUILDER videos will help you along your fly tying journey! We choose three tips per week and post them on Fridays!
In this video we show you how to color one side of a feather to achieve two colors on a single feather (great for Parachute Adams). We'll show you how to use the cottorelli hackle twister, a unique tool that is great for blending colors of CDC, marabou and many other types of feathers. We finish the video with a really cool technique to make your dry fly hackle much more durable.

I would love to see tips on splitting thread for dubbing and cdc. I’m using utc 70 and I spin it counter clockwise and for the life of me can’t see to get it flat to split it properly.
