Enjoy your exploits Robert. Which knot do you choose to attach 12ft leader to fly line welded loop ?

@@FlyFishingbyRobertdo you ever have issues with the leader cutting into your fly line coating and causing the loop to fail?

This brings back sooooo many good memories from last summer... And I can confirm: #4wt with a 18ft leader ending on 5 or 6x and a flipping sturdy #24 hook is sufficient for 70cm Icelandic Browns, if you can bring enough pressure to the fish. But you kinda have to "learn" it, though... Thank you so much for this video, it reminds me of the fact that I need to go back to Iceland next year 😊

What Rod and line in Weights do you use? Friend of mine who was Fishing in Iceland few times said he would go for an 8WT even due to the strong wind and some really strong fish? He would also suggest a 6WT if it’s not so windy but mostly he said an 8WT even. Which I find quite heavy and crazy? I will be in Akoery in Juli this year so I suck in what I can but would be interested if this is really needed to take an 8WT there?!
@FlyFishingbyRobert9 сағат бұрын
Hello. Here I was using a 4wt rod. So no I would say you don't need to have an 8 wt. But there will for sure come moments when this setup is too light. I only use it on wind free days.

Robert, how your leader will looks like if you fish single fly? Is it 12ft 4x plus 5ft 4x , tippet ring and short tippet or just single fly (without ring)?
@FlyFishingbyRobert2 күн бұрын
The same like here. Just cut off the short tag with the dropper.
