Don't believe I've ever seen this before. Excellent seminar type video for kokanee fishing all in one sitting. Thank you for sharing!

Seeing 30 boats ahead of you is something we never see in British Columbia fishing for Kokanee. If I see 6 other boats in a day it is crowded. I guess I am spoiled. What I use to catch kokanee are Apex Kokanee Killers, Macks Sling blades, the good old wedding ring and my favourite the Brads kokanee cutplug in all colours depending on cloud cover. I use purple coloured rigs on cloudy days.

I do really well with hand tied 1.5 to 3 inch hoochies with some beads, sometimes with a small spin and glow or smile blade up front, as well as apex I have 10,acres at Bridge Lake in the Cariboo......another BC guy

My go-to's are sling blades off of lead core line, to Wedding Rings, tipped with shoepeg corn, scented with krill oil. I might go over to my downrigger, in mid-summer, but more often I'm flat lining without the rigger. On one lake, which holds small bait fish, I substitute the Wedding Rings for a Wee Dick Nite spoon. On another, which holds Sockeye salmon as well as Kokanee, I simply up size the Sling blades, early in the season, then go back to the 6"" Sling blades later in the season. When targeting Sockeye, I use a bit stiffer rods, go up to 15 ib. test braid, and vary the weight of the sinkers, and hooks are up-sized to 1/0, or 2/0. If the Socks are close mouthed, I might switch out the Sling Blades for an"0", or "00" Les Davis dodger. In this fishery, I'll use wiggle hoochies, or mini hoochies, dyed coonstripe shrimp, scented with shrimp oil. It's basically the same as Kokanee, only up-sized for the larger fish of 6-10 ib. fish. The rest of the season I'll be fishing the saltwater, for Chinook, Coho, or Chum salmon. ( different boat).

Great info, thanks for the tips. Shows there is more to Kokanee trolling than some think.

You can use corn at Flaming Gorge. You have been allowed corn for a number of years now.

Unfortunately, lake trout population has exploded and the nasty critters have decimated the kokanee population.

We need more lake trout anglers perhaps.

Sir, you had stated that UV (Ultra Violet) is the blue and purple color. Blue and purple are in the visible (10-7m) part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Ultra-Violet is "beyond the violet" (10-8m).

I am sure you are right. Gary may not be that exact about the science but pretty good at catching fish.

Should your colors on the flasher and the lure match ?
@FLYFISHTV3 ай бұрын
Their is not any definitive answer to this, sometime it works better that way and sometime times mixing up the colors works better
