I agree, General hobbies shipping time was missleading, they over promise in delivery time. They do not respond to queries by message. However models arrived (finally) in excellent condition.

Brian Phillips howdy, do you know why my stabilization with my lemonrx is backwards with the ailerons on my furry wing? Elevator stabilization is correct.

Nice bird my friend! I also love lemon rx receivers, the diversity 7 channel is great and for about 1/4 the cost of spektrum and no apps or cables required, simple and adjustable on the fly! I order mine straight from Hong Kong

Totally agree, but when the AR636A comes with a BNF, I ALWAYS go for it ;) I'd recommend you do the same, and any PNF, go for lemon-rx for sure!

I used to have asw28 (FlyFly) and sold it because of problems with the quality (twisted tail, wrong angle of incidence and a problem with the mount for the T-Tail)for that reason I like to stay away from FlyFly (if possible). Unless the quality has improved a lot (which is probably not the case). I would love upgrade my fleet to something better (from foamies and the Lanyu ASW28) to compositefuselage and high qualitywings. I still own the Lanyu ASW28 but I still like to step up my game. Which plane would you recommend ? I am located in europe. Cheers Nik
@BrianPhillipsRC

Nik, there are so many awesome planes that I can't afford, but would love to buy, in composite. My issue is that the quality concerns you mentioned, seem to be "industry standard"...which is lame, but true :( ...that being said, maybe fly fly wouldn't be such a mistake???

@@BrianPhillipsRC I did some research and found a Beinecke ASW24 for 249Euro which is a superb price since airbrakes are included and the quality is fantastic. www.beineke-modellbau.de/asw24.htm The wings are styro/balsa and the fuse is made out of epoxy. WE (RCguys)have a bunch of motors/ESC/servos stiiting on the shelf that we can use. Would you mind to test a similar plane, there has to be something similar on the american market, right ?

Excellent video! Love them all keep em coming dude! Just a quick question about the e-flite cirrus! Did you find it just wants to climb climb climb? It doesn't want to land. also any mod ideas to stop the rudder/nosewheel servo from breaking on landing, considering my landings are fairly good on grass. They seem so delicate. I replaced it with another servo and hope that it won't break so easily. Thanks Brian.
@BrianPhillipsRC

I haven't had the climbing or rudder/nose gear servo issue, but I don't fly off a grass runway... As for the climbing, are you running with SAFE on?
@RayKit
@RayKit 6 жыл бұрын
I think it just needed a tweak in the trim setting but i don't fly with safe on at all. I feel competent enough now to use it without. I think these companies should take more care for us grass flyers as the aircraft is susceptible to landing gear bending etc. thanks bud!

Hey Brian & Esteban! Again a great video and congratulations to Esteban's 505 build. It looks great. I'm planning to make a winter project with a 505 and have some questions. (this summer I'm testing out my ASW28 with my new DX8G2 and Lemon RX7) First I'm very sorry to read at RC-Groups.com about Grant's total crash after only four flights with his 505. His problem was tip stalling. Do you know if he had any kind of stabilization? I understand that Esteban has put in a AR636A rx in his bird and as the video shows, it flyes fantasticly. But as far as I can see, you can't buy the A-version of the AR636. Do you know how to program a flight mode simular to SAFE mode? Then General Hobby has marked the electrric version of the 505 "Sold Out". At RC-Groups.com someone has linked the 505 to a netshop named "f-Hobby Shop". Do you know anything about this business? And at their site they name "ailerons and spoilers(?)" as features. That has to be a missprint, the model has flaps, not spoilers? That was all this time. By the way, nice new land you're flying in, nearly simular to mine. High grass, landing gear is not necessary. Happy flying! "Sev"
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 6 жыл бұрын
Good idea about the "winter project"...since it does take some time :) He had stabilization, but not sure if he had it working for him enough...it was sad to hear he lost it so quick!!! I don't know how to program SAFE, but I know that Horizon Hobby does allow you to program "HEADING HOLD" into the receivers, which is a lot like "safe select" The electric version is just a RIP OFF, just buy the ARF, they are the same!!! I don't know about f-hobby shop... Thanks for watching! We're glad to have you here!

Hey Brian Great video AGAIN Do you think the erratic behavior from the first video was due to the model design or the inadvertent mis calibration with the rudder. Thanks
@esteban33ification
@esteban33ification 6 жыл бұрын
The way I installed the rudder servo required us to criss cross the pull pull cables to get the correct AS3X movements to counteract the effect of the wind. Something I overlooked when I was setting up the rudder servo. The erratic behavior had nothing to do with the design. It was corrected as soon as we criss crossed the servo pull pull cables.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 6 жыл бұрын
It was TOTALLY from the rudder being "AS3X" stabilized in the wrong direction, and the other little things we fixed too :) Now she's rock solid, and a dream to fly. I wanted SOOOOOO badly for my ASH26 to fly better.

You'll have to make sure the plane will continue to fly in the same orientation. You have to have the Rx about the same spot in the plane, and the EXACT orientation, and the same channels controlling the same surfaces, then you're fine. OR You can buy the AS3X programming cable and reprogram the AR636A to do whatever you want. I never do this, since I don't have the programming cable, BUT Esteban does :)

YES, but it's even more likely, if MotonRC would send them to me for review ;) I will be totally honest with you. We've been so busy with land stuff, that it's been a struggle to be as obsessed with RC aircraft. Keep in mind that a large reason FOR the land, is my RC addiction. We gotta own it before we'll be able to really start enjoying it, and that also means we'll have to go through the crazy busy and stressful period of getting it from a beautiful, naked lot, to an improved lot where we can live. I have the fly fly ASW 28. Also do you feel you could have pulled off a push pull instead of the pull pull with the 505 and why??? Thank you for your consideration..
@esteban33ification
@esteban33ification 6 жыл бұрын
I suppose a push pull system would work too but you would need a long rigid push rod to set it up and that would put a little more stress on the servo gears. I didn’t want to add more wait to the tail either and have to deal with the headache of cutting another hole in the vertical stabilizer fiberglass to fit a second servo. I like keeping most of the extra wait closer to the CG.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 6 жыл бұрын
I think you could have done a push pull just fine, but a pull pull is so dang easy, and keeps weight away from the tail...usually a win-win in a glider ;)

Plus the geometry of exiting the push rod out the tail is a lot harder then you might think. I ran into this with my ASH26, as I started the project wanting to use a push rod, but ended up with a pull pull system (my first of many more)...you know the saying, Keep it simple stupid (KISS)

I'm sorry, but don't know, since the DG505 belongs to Esteban, my friend... Here's a tip. Can you use a lipo that fits well, then just balance the assembled sail plane about 1/3 from the leading edge of the wing? Then when you've got that set, you can just glide it into tall grass? I wish I could give you an easy answer, but keep in mind the CG is usually a bit subjective, especially with sail planes. I like to fly mine fairly nose heavy to begin with, then I can back it off if I'm trying to thermal...which I don't often do, by the way...

The ASH-26 was a one-of-a-kind arf that I bought off a guy who was a total sail plane enthusiast, and the DG-505 came from a company with very mixed reviews, and I think we shared a link, but at the end of the day, if you want a quality sail plane, they are ARF's and they are a lotta work, but amazing when they're done right!!! Here's something you can get and have a great experience with right out of the box, and if this is not your thing, you'll have to search like crazy to find a fiberglass ARF you like. bprc.me/Conscendo bprc.me/TH_ASW28

why do you have NAV lights on a glider, Never in my time of flying full size gliders did i fly at night haha, especially since there isn't any thermals popping at night time. haha

Cheers Nik
