Crave Life Episode 30
I couldn't be more excited to fly a 1942 Boeing Stearman with the owner Mark Small. Mark and his With Kathleen operate the Honor Project, which is a non-profit set up to fly our Veterans around the beautiful Walla Walla Valley in Eastern Washington state in honor of their service to our great nation.
This experience gives our warriors the experience of the open cockpit in the aircraft many of them trained to serve our nation in.
Big thank you for taking such great care of our hero's, without them we wouldn't be living the life we do or enjoying the freedoms we enjoy today.
Lets get strapped in behind the beautiful 9 Cylinder Pratt & Whitney BT13 450HP radial engine and take the PT-17 Stearman to the skies!

I'm so excited to see this video. Mark took my husband (Korean War Vet) for a ride several years ago. My uncle Leo (Buzz) Sawyer, a WWII pilot, started Sawyer Aviation in 1948 specializing in crop dusting and spraying. He kept his WWII Stearman planes and fuel trucks at the airport. I flagged for him one summer in the early 1950s with a group of college boys. What a thrill to watch the small spec coming towards us in the wakening sky. The plane would disappear behind a hill and suddenly flew over the top with a loud deafening roar. What a site to behold. Thank you for posting this video.

Thanks for a great video! I didn't know until now that this has the same engine as my absolute most favorite airplane, the Grumman G21 Goose! Pratt & Whitney 985 Wasp Jr. radial engines are one of the best sounding aircraft engines in my opinion! Love seeing Mr. Pletcher's restored Goose that usually appears at the Alaska Aviation Festival every year. Just wish they'd dust off the orange & black DNR Goose & get it back in the air. It used to still fly not too long ago when I was still in my early teens.

There’s nothing like flying a Stearman. Tuff to takeoff , a dream to fly , a bear to land . We always try to promote aviation and tell about the history of WW2 with our Stearman. Great video!

Absolutely amazing video. We have a true love for the Stearman Biplane. I'm sure you probably attend the Annual Stearman Fly-in each year in Illinois. That's always one of our favorite events. Thanks for the incredible footage.

What you do for vets is so cool, I've always been interested in finding a way to put my flight training towards a good cause! I'm still a student, but I know a lady who's in a stearman club, and I'm really hoping I can get a look out from an open cockpit at some point!

Waverly Stearman was actually the designer of these planes and Lloyd Stearman, his brother, was the business man and manufacturer. Lloyd sold out to Boeing. Later he bought Lockheed when it was in bankruptcy and brought it back to life. Waverly went out on his own and continued to design but never used the Stearman name again. Of course, you can find other details online so I'm not going to write a thesis.

I'm planning to build a Stearman model kit in 1/72, and have found this video very helpful as a reference, thank you for that. I also plan to make a video for KZbin on that model build. Would it be ok if I got some stills and small video segments off this video to put in mine? I would only show parts of the plane, not the people, and I would of coarse link to you in the description. Is it correct to assume the instructor is seated in the rear seat?
