@@gregg.d Oh yeah I know! lol I think tea versus coffee is a generational thing. Most of the youth today prefer coffee because of how place likes Starbucks and Costa have made it more popular. I'm a 50 year old American gay male but when I was in Uni I had loads of British friends that came over here to study. They ALWAYS would ask me "hey mate, when a cuppa?" and they meant tea. I would always say "yes, I'd love one". I've always loved coffee and tea equally but that is a southern thing. I'm from South Carolina and I lot of our culture comes from when Britons came and settled here. We are big tea drinkers down here. Anyway thanks and hello over the Pond! This is staged, the envelope is too easy to find, yet missed by the previous owner and shop staff, no postal franking on the envelope, senders address conveniently torn off, removed stamps leave a different mark, no air mail label.

I'm on KZbin all the time for many different reasons. I'm not fooled by all the lies and Bogus channels that you find in abundance all over the platform. I came across this piece of your content accidentally. I almost didn't even bother watching it, however, I am so glad that I did!! I was so moved, and you had me at the edge of my seat. Apparently, you must not have a last name, that would help substantially, less a “needle in a haystack “. This was a well-put-together video. It also brought tears to my eyes, Chris, because I understood the value of what you did in bringing that letter. I am now 63 years old and have only been out for about 7 years. Yes, I was hidden so to speak all of that time. I also had two opportunities to find someone I could grow old with, but let those pass me by. One of them is quite well off and we keep in touch. I have asked some friends in Seattle if they could help with finding John. I also have academic colleagues that I will ask as well. One friend of mine is a bit older but has well-established contacts in the LGBTQ community in Seattle and I just messaged him. Thank you for this video. I hope for a quick resolution for this for you. Do keep us updated.

I can relate, but for me it was 1981. I went to London. He came to Ohio. He tried to immigrate. We finally gave up in 1985. I haven’t heard from him since, but often wonder what became of him.

There are so many stories like this in the 80s and 90s. The younger guys can't understand just how different things used to be. Things really haven't changed major until the 2000s+, before that you had to be really discreet because people's families would freak out OR Guys would get scared and stop talking because they thought their family would know they were gay. So many stories. So many romantic loves lost to time and lives.

I'm up in the air about this one. The outcome could go a few different ways. I've learned in life that sometimes things are never as good or as bad as you think they will be, they are somewhere in the middle. But, who knows. Time will tell. I've often thought about contacting people I knew from the past but for the most part I keep myself from doing it. I tried once contacting someone but he never got back to me. There is always that hope that you can pick up where you left off and in the case of friendships it has happened for me....but someone who you have had a more intimate relationship with? That might have all sorts of other baggage along with it. So, as I said.....time will tell. I look forward to seeing where this goes. Thanks for the video! Yeah guys lost contact many times back in those times because of the discreet type of lives we had to do. Families used to freak out back then if you came out of the closet or said you were gay. A lot of gay guys used to do letters like that and sadly many lost contact. We all did.

Thanks again for flying Delta. It is the best airline plus it helps fund my retirement from Delta. I worked for Delta as a flight attendant from 1978-2009. I think, as a male flight attendant in the '70s, it was quite unique & ground breaking especially for G-males too🌈✈️.😅 I miss it & who knows, I might have met you if I hadn't retired😂 after all I met Mick Jagger & Joan Rivers😃.

Wow, just imagine if that letter was from a hundred years ago, when homosexuality was still illegal in Massachussets and gays were commonly sent to jail. And to think that when I was a kid, homosexuality was still illegal in Massachusetts and in most of the United States. I wonder how an antique dealer in 1924 would have reacted if he was shown such a letter. Times sure change, don't they?

Walker has a novel based in the dead letter office and they find and eventually reunite an old gay couple via a love letter, Dearest Milton James is well worth a read (and it's sequel), very touching story with another gay love story within the book as well. @stanchris

Well done, well edited and mixed as always. Love that you an Art rely on eachother. I can imagine it's hard sometimes to make the minor re-enactments seem natural (like bro finding letter, reaching David. You have to arrange some things to make it viable, totally understand) but you guys do it well. Nice call from your UK pals on Brits staying in same home longer ! And it's fascinating to see the understated, cool, less emotional British reax in David. If you have no experience with Brits, it might seem kinda cold, but it's totally not. Good stuff all around !
