My UPT Alma Mater! (Where I flew the exact same T-38 airframes as my father did, 18 years before me!) As a former motocrosser I already had 12 broken bones and surgeries upon entering pilot training. I had a really cool Flight Surgeon for my initial flight physical who successfully "coached" me through the process! Currently sitting at over 30 such injuries and still competing in snowboard events at 62. 💪 🤙

Definitely a bucket list item. I was fortunate to go up in an F-16 for an incentive flight when I was in the Air Force. Awesome experience.
@mxslick503 күн бұрын
Same, I got a backseat in an F-4 out to the range. Also got to fly it for 24 minutes on the way back.
@timjchick3 күн бұрын
@ my flight got rescheduled a couple times due to weather, maintenance issues with the D model, etc so when I did finally did go up I went along on a 2-ship training sortie with a F-4 wild Weasel. I was in Germany and we flew over into France to simulate taking out a SAM site. I got o fly a little on the way back to our base.
@mxslick503 күн бұрын
@ Nice!! I had to do a swap as our first aircraft had a fuel leak, then I had to taxi the jet as my pilot rearranged our flight elements as our lead's jet went down due to a leak, (we then became lead.) The best part was my screw up over the radio when we were leaving the base, I spoke on a hot mic just as my pilot keyed to tell the tower we were clear of the pattern...I chose that moment to tell my pilot "Anyone ever tell you guys you look real sexy from up here?" 😲Everyone heard it, our wingmen were laughing so hard they almost rolled inverted. When the tower (with everyone laughing in the background) asked for a repeat, My pilot looked at me in the rear views and casually said "Care to make that call?" 😁 I just shook my head no. His callback was so sharp and so fast it brought the tower controller to hysterics. For the remaining three years I was on that base, the pilots (ALL of them) never let me live that call down. But that wasn't as bad as the time I literally crashed the a-10 simulator at my previous base. That's a story for another time.
@timjchick2 күн бұрын
@@mxslick50 I had to go over to the flight simulator building to work periodically and they let me get in the F-4 and F-16 flight simulators a couple times. That was really cool.

Ha!! Finally, something I beat Travis at! I got a ride in an F-4 fighter out to the bomb range. 1.2 hours (1 hour, 12 minutes) total flight time, including 24 minutes as the pilot in command. It is an official entry in my pilot's logbook too, as my pilot was a CFI. This happened in 1990. I met Travis a few years before that, we talked about him teaching me how to backflip. (He still has me beat at everything on a motorcycle, race car and truck for sure.) Anyways, I'm glad to see Travis get to experience what I did, it is so much fun and incredibly physically demanding.

@ Take the most extreme rollercoaster, multiply it by 20 and you'll still be shy of how intense it is. I can't tell anyone exactly how many g's I did, but it was higher than +3.9 and lower than - 1. literally lost 7 lbs in sweat, and felt like I did 10 rounds with Tyson. My current health conditions forbid me from doing it again, but I was so glad I got the experience.
