What's the matter if it sounds like Muse? That should turn you guys on, cause MUSE is beyond awesome. That's a good song. Don't expect too much prog and heavyness from Flying Colors, 'cause they are somewhere between pop - rock - alternative - prog. It's a nice combo, and it's good to hear something different, good music isnt just progmetal, music = art and art = infinite

Muse? As much as I dig Muse, people need to go way back to different older bands to find some influences. Thats the problem with kids today... they think Muse, or Incubus, or Alterbridge for example started or invented rock. This band is fantastic!!!! During one of my many Mike Portney searches on You Tube I got turned on to this band. And what a blessing it has been since then. After watching to several videos I immediately went out and bought "Live in Europe" and "Second Nature". Since I've owned them I have listened to them every day. I can't get enough of this band. I love Portney and follow everything he does. This is heaven's music. LOVE IT!! Can't wait until the next one.

Personally I love flying colors. I think everyone expected a spin off of a transatlantic formula. I think it's perfect for this lineup to give fans a different view and feel, than traditional prog, I loved the approach and song themes on the first record. Very refreshing to hear mike and Steve play in a fashion that may not be expected. Great job so far FC!

I saw these guys at The Keswick Theater in Philadelphia last night. Fantastic sound and world class talent! Much of the audience, as is usually the case these days, had no idea of the talents before them. A Canadian band, Bend Sinister, opened and they were also really talented with solid songwriting skills and a tight performance.

What intrigues me the most about this song is the sheer number of stylistic shifts that it takes, and you can hear bits and pieces of all manner of influences throughout. While some are pointing out Muse as a primary point of comparison, those a bit more well-versed in heavy prog might recognize some sections that would be right at home amongst bands like Beardfish or Nemo, but to limit it there is to sell the musicians short. The style of the video was a bit distracting, and the audio on this promo video sounds compressed (possibly an artifact of uploading), but the song was excellent - although I shouldn't compare to another band with Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy, this sounds a bit like a more accessible, more modern equivalent to Transatlantic's "Kaleidoscope", which is quite the feat.

Really do not understand the Muse comparisons - Muse are pale by comparison and Casey has an outstanding muscular voice capable of great variations and sensitivity as needed. These guys are all outstanding musicians in their own right but they work together so cohesively and create amazing music - they seem to spark creativity off each other and so many of their lyrics have great insight into the reality of living. Really looking forward to their shows in London and Tilburg in October - great job Bill Evans who sparked this whole thing and has worked so hard on everything to do with FC - not least this second album. Hope that the shows will be twice as long now that you have two albums !!!!!!!! Sarah B

Different but I don't reall understand why people complain about it. I mean if you want the exact same sound as their first album, go listen to their first album. I think it's boring when bands do the same thing over and over again because it's "comfortable," I personally love when bands throw you a curve. And that goes for all music everywhere, go into it with an open mind. I loved the first and can't wait to see what other sounds come from the new album.
