I thought I had commented on this but maybe hadn't or KZbin ate it or something.. I think the first Flying Guillotine was one of the very first Shaw films I ever saw and didn't expect a plot with as much depth or message.. Master, although good fun desperately needs a remaster and is exceptionally influential - Street fighter the video game for example. My favourite out of them all is Dragon missile, it never out stays it's welcome and having Lo Lieh the villian as the central character is an interesting dynamic. Vengeful beauty as you say is good, up to a point. I had to watch Palace carnage a few times before I understood, and it's a brutal ending. Haven't seen the remake and won't unless it's dirt cheap. I have a pan and scan copy of Fatal that's almost unwatchable, if I can find a decent copy I'll rewatch it. There is also Zatoichi versus the flying guillotine, it's a rip off featuring a guy who is the dead spit of Shintaro Katsu, if you can find it, it's worth a look, but nowhere near as good as Zatoichi and the one-armed swordsman. I really love your videos Paul, thank you for giving these old Shaw films the attention they deserve.

Arrrrrgh now I have to go see the Zaitoichi one! Fatal Flying Guillotines is on KZbin - yes a terrible print but it feels like Kungfu Cinema on a weekend to me. As always, thanks for watching and I appreciate your support! I really feel like FG2/Palace Carnage is two movies glued together. Maybe the two titles are indicative of that. I haven't read deeply on its production besides the drama with Chen Kwan Tai and Ho Meng Hua not returning; it seems like the script is where the big changes took place.

@@paulthomas3247 I have a bluray of FG2 and the commentary track explains production was fraught with difficulty. Really I would say don't bother with the FG Zatoichi film, but I know you want to watch it. But you really need to see Zatoichi and the one-armed swordsman, Katsu is probably my favourite character of all time and although not the best film out of the 25 he made, there is an awful lot of depth and humour to it.

I liked Master of the Flying Guillotine the best. It was like 2 movies mashed into one and had some really entertaining fights.

No worries my friend. As does mine. And I'm sure I'll find something to take from your basket of cinematic knowledge. I'm trying to get in to other things in regards to genres, but I'll admit it is hard, hahaha. If it does not have Kung Fu or giant monsters, followed by zombies and vampires, I tend to zone out . Brilliant channel, btw!
