Those were the days! I remember going to the Prairie State Games before Kenny Battle's freshman year and watching him dominate and jump out of the gym. What an exciting team!

BEST team not to win a championship. My favorite Illinois team and the only other team that could play above the rim all 5 starters were 5 slama jama. WHAT a game that would be 89"Illinois vs 83"Houston. I say Illinois by 3-103-100. 80s were the best days for college hoops🏀☝💪

Marcus and Lowell were 6'8" but yeah, my favorite college basketball team ever and I'm a diehard Heels fan!

All under 6'7" but none below 6'4". Would they succeed today?

Why wouldn't they steph curry,Russell Westbrook's ja morant etc all guys that aren't that tall you have to ask yourself would guys today succeed in that era(look I'm a baller from that era and I think any ball player can succeed in anyone's era, just enjoy the game, game hasn't changed in over 100 years you can only shoot, drive pass and play defense

All of them were interchangable. Liberty was a lean 6 foot 8 and Larry Smith was close to 6 foot 2. He was underated also. What a fun team to watch

This team should've had Laphonso Ellis. Why he chose Notre Dame I will never know

I lived in Illinois at this time. I agree Ellis would have been great for Illinois also. What a talented team this 89 squad was.
