Great and enjoyable video again Giles; thanks v much. Some very valuable reminders there amongst which, the need for us all to be always be prepared for rapid changes in the expected weather. Plus, however enjoyable the flying, just how potentially fatiguing multi-stop trips can be. In my experience, it’s as much the mental energy one has to chuck into the planning/aviating as anything else that draws on your energy/capacity ‘pot’. Well done to all three of you.

I’ll use the word stunning again. It’s absolutely inspiring. In a predictable world of technology and sofas it’s a flashback to the days of real adventure. It reminds me so much of our trip from the midlands of Ireland to Oban in Scotland in 2002 in a 462 Huntwing. Bad weather precautionary landing there too and our trip to France via Scotland a couple of years later. Thanks a million Giles for sharing your memories and experiences. They’ve revitalised mine. Hopefully we’ll meet in Darley Moor sometime soon because I feel a trip coming on.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 you won’t see it just yet but this will have a significant impact on the sub 70 and hopefully flexwing flying in general. Yourself and Mark are very marketable and people will buy into you and what you do so just keep doing it. I even watch Mark’s Wingnuts now. You know I followed you long before you did this trip but you’ve really excelled this time. I’m off to race in the Belgian Classic TT next week but I’ll always have one eye out for your videos so keep them coming.

Giles.... Eccles Newton is still in Scotland, though I can understand that you were getting befuddled after so many Low & Slow sectors & Mark had to confirm that you were still in Scotland... You might have even flown over English Soil in the circuit to Eccles Newton as the English Border is only 0.9nm South of Eccles Newton. The Cheviot Hill is 13nm SE of Eccles Newton Airfield so maybe Ben could see the Cheviots in the distance. Excellent video (as always) & glad you all got down safely ;-)

@@GolfFoxtrot22 I think between you and Mark you are certainly making Sub 70's more popular & are proving that they are "Serious Touring Ultralights ' Well done on the Low & Slow Balbo to Balado..... I think your Grand Tours will get bigger and bigger as so many people are now seeing what is possible with a Sub 70. I am impressed by your achievements on this trip, so pleased that you got the transit over Edinburgh Airport as it is a lovely site to fly over ( The next one for you should be Gatwick Airport enroute into Charlwood Vallance Byways)

Hi Peter, thank you again for your kind words of encouragement. We were technically SSDR as we wanted to carry the extra fuel but in reality we could have achieved it as a Sub70 machine, we just wanted the extra safety of fuel. It's the focus behind the Grand Tours to help encourage Sub70 and SSDR fliers what cna be achieved. I've always been a fan of pushing what can be achieved and it seems to now be more obvious to the masses follow our little adventure.

The big advantage of your type of aircraft, is if you have support as you did, when the weather stops play, you can fold it up and go home. I really think that is a big advantage and needs a video to demo.

Hi Giles. I got my training at East Fortune great to see 29 and 11 again. I flew in a flash 2 alpha I liked it as it seems to have that floaty feeling your ultralights have. I did XC to strathaven and Baledo. I actually live beside baledo now although no flying pity I missed you three. Going across Edinburgh airport and musselburgh to east fortune was great. Great to see Jill there. I hear Douglas doesn't train any more. Any way great adventure from the three of you. Sure was epic.

Yes, the new registrations will all be SSDR, the CAA don't want Sub70 with G registrations on.

Epic trip, and a shame the weather stopped it a bit prematurely, but once again the ability to land out almost anywhere was well proven with 3 different landing sites! Well done all 😁. Don't you just love the view over the air museum as you take off from East Fortune on 11? Still love seeing that - spooky seeing it in your vid!! Eccles is a cracking wee strip - but definitely a short strip! Hope you met Gary there - lovely chap! Brilliant series!

You all seem knackered in this video. I enjoyed Mark’s humor about going to the gym not counting unless it’s posted to social media🤣🤣🤣. I’ll bet Michelle got quite the tour in having to track each of you down and then navigate close enough to pick you up. Did you have any disgruntled farmers or such when you all had to put down due to weather? I don’t envy you on the camera management and editing. I hope Adobe elements is intuitive. Well done on the videos!

HI Tom, yes, it was tiring but rewarding at the same time. I think it was too wet for the farmers to be out or bothered, but we were all safe and that is what counts. I think the 3 of us bounced off each other, and that just added to the adventure. Michelle and Mella were a Stella team and had their own mini adventures seeing some amazing sights as well. I'll try and get their side in any future vlogs.

Hi Tom and thank you. The air was getting quite thermic so we opted for the smoother costal air which was very smooth. I'm not sure Newcastle would have been as flexible as Edinburgh.

As soon as I saw that barn in your cold-open, I knew exactly where you were. I flew into Eccles Newton for their fly-in. As is often the case at fly-ins, Hotel Lima was the only gyrocopter there and I have a photo of her parked almost exactly where you were standing. I've flown into East Fortune a couple of times, too, and Balado is fairly familiar territory, as well.

Hi Sam, not that I'm aware of, it's kind of why we wanted to do this. The bigger twin seats carry everything but then alll you do is blast along on a straight line. We wanted the low and slow side of it for the fun side.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 Your Balado trek is why I asked. Having something like the Icarus Trophy for sub 70/nano trikes would be a blast. It wouldn't be much of a challenge in the bigger, faster two place trikes. I'm not sure if there are enough of us light trike pilots in the US to make it viable here, but Europe seems to have a lot more of you guys. Maybe the European manufacturers like Flylight, Aeros, La mouette, or Eurofly would be interested in getting something going. I think it would help sell a lot of trikes. Anyhow, it's just an idea.

@GolfFoxtrot22 It was awesome. Flying at 1200' you can really see the ridges and topography in my area, as apossed to when I'm flying a jet. My first A to B flight was to Kolb field just across the river. ( Birthplace of Kolb Ultralights) Beautiful grass strip.

I stopped just shy of the dimensions you said for the butterfly cut out, because I lost my spares somewhere. I'll get it sorted. I can't figure out the fuel calibration on the motomonitor.
